2. Setup
2.1 Charging the Device
Before initial use, fully charge the Garmin Alpha 300 handheld device. Use the provided USB adapter or USB car adapter.
Connect the small end of the USB cable to the USB port on the Alpha 300.
Connect the large end of the USB cable to the USB adapter or USB car adapter.
Plug the adapter into a power source. The charging indicator will illuminate.
Allow the device to charge until the battery icon indicates a full charge.

2.2 Powering On/Off
To Power On: Press and hold the power button (usually located on the side) until the screen illuminates.
To Power Off: Press and hold the power button until a power-off prompt appears, then select "Power Off" on the screen.
2.3 Initial Device Configuration
Upon first power-on, the device will guide you through initial setup steps, including language selection, time zone, and unit preferences.
Follow the on-screen prompts to select your preferred language.
Set the time format and time zone.
Choose your preferred units of measurement (e.g., miles, kilometers).
2.4 Pairing with Dog Collars
The Alpha 300 can track and train up to 20 compatible dog collars (sold separately).

3. Operating Instructions
3.1 Navigating the Interface
The Alpha 300 features a touchscreen and six physical buttons for navigation.
Touchscreen: Tap to select items, swipe to scroll, and pinch to zoom on maps.
Buttons: Use the side buttons for quick access to common functions like zoom, menu, and dog list. Refer to the device's on-screen prompts for specific button functions in different menus.
3.2 Tracking Dogs
The device allows you to monitor the location and status of your paired dogs.
From the main menu, select "Track" or access the map screen.
Dog locations are displayed on the map. You can zoom in or out to adjust the view.
Select a dog icon to view detailed information, including distance, speed, and status (e.g., "treed," "on point").
The Channel View feature helps identify and select less congested channels to minimize interference, ensuring reliable tracking.

3.3 Training Dogs
The Alpha 300 provides various training commands for compatible collars.
From the dog list or tracking screen, select the dog you wish to train.
Access the "Train" menu.
Choose from 18 levels of momentary or continuous stimulation, tone, or vibration commands.
Adjust the intensity level as needed.
Send the command to the dog collar.

4. Maintenance
4.1 Cleaning the Device

4.2 Battery Care

5. Troubleshooting
5.1 Device Not Powering On
Ensure the battery is fully charged. Connect the device to a power source and allow it to charge for at least 30 minutes.
Try performing a soft reset by holding the power button for 10-15 seconds.
Verify the battery is correctly installed if it is user-replaceable.
5.2 Unable to Track Dogs
Confirm that the dog collars are powered on and have sufficient battery.
Ensure the collars are properly paired with the Alpha 300. Re-pair if necessary.
Check the range. The maximum tracking range is up to 9 miles, but terrain and obstacles can reduce this.
Use the Channel View feature to select a less congested channel to avoid interference.
Ensure the device has a clear view of the sky for GPS signal acquisition.
5.3 Inaccurate GPS Readings
Move to an open area with a clear view of the sky to improve satellite reception.
Allow the device sufficient time to acquire satellite signals (initial acquisition may take longer).
Ensure the device's software is up to date.
Check that multiple GNSS systems are enabled in the device settings for enhanced accuracy.
5.4 Touchscreen Unresponsive
Clean the screen with a microfiber cloth to remove dirt or moisture.
