5. Operating Instructions

The Sovol SH04 features a simplified one-knob control for ease of use.

5.1. Power On/Off

The device powers on automatically when connected to an outlet. To turn off, disconnect from the power source.

5.2. Setting Drying Time

The default heating temperature for the SH04 is fixed at 50°C, suitable for most common filaments. You only need to set the drying duration.

  1. Timed Drying: Rotate the knob clockwise to select a drying time between 0 and 120 minutes (2 hours). The dryer will operate for the selected duration and then turn off automatically.
  2. Continuous Drying ("Stay On"): Rotate the knob counter-clockwise to the "Stay On" position. In this mode, the dryer will operate continuously until manually turned off by rotating the knob to "0" or disconnecting the power. This mode is ideal for long printing sessions or for thoroughly drying highly hygroscopic filaments.

5.3. Intelligent Temperature Control

The SH04 maintains an intelligent temperature range between 45°C and 55°C. When the internal temperature reaches 55°C, the heating element reduces power consumption. It will re-heat when the temperature drops to 45°C, ensuring consistent drying and long-term operational safety.

5.4. Filament Compatibility

The SH04 is designed to effectively dry a wide range of 3D printing filaments, including but not limited to:

  • PLA, PLA+
  • PETG
  • ABS
  • TPU
  • Wood
  • PVA
  • PVB
  • HIPS
  • PMMA

It supports both 1.75mm and 2.85mm diameter filaments.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your filament dryer.

  • Cleaning: Disconnect the power before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Internal Cleaning: Periodically remove spools and gently wipe the interior with a dry cloth to remove any dust or filament debris.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the dryer in a cool, dry place.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Sovol SH04, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Device does not power on.Power cable not connected or faulty outlet.Ensure power cable is securely connected. Test the outlet with another device.
Filament not drying effectively.Insufficient drying time or extremely wet filament.Increase drying time or use "Stay On" mode. For very wet filament, multiple drying cycles may be needed.
Knob not responding.Temporary software glitch.Disconnect power for 30 seconds, then reconnect and try again.
Unusual odors during operation.New device "burn-in" smell or foreign material inside.A slight odor is normal for new devices. If persistent or strong, disconnect power and inspect for foreign objects. Contact support if odor continues.
