Frigga U2 USB Temp Logger & M2H Reusable Temp Logger Instruction Manual

Models: U2, M2H

1. Introduction

The Frigga U2 USB Temp Logger and M2H Reusable Temp Logger are advanced data loggers designed for precise monitoring and recording of temperature and, for the M2H model, humidity. These devices are suitable for various applications including cold chain logistics, storage, and laboratory experiments, ensuring data integrity for critical environments.

Key features include:

  • Multi-Use Functionality: The M2H model is reusable, while the U2 is a single-use device.
  • Auto-Generated Reports: Direct PDF and CSV report generation upon connection to a computer, requiring no special software.
  • LED Alarm Indicator: Visual alerts for temperature excursions beyond predefined thresholds.
  • Wide Application Range: Ideal for food, pharmaceutical, and laboratory use.
  • Companion Software: Frigga Data Software (for M2H) for advanced configuration and data analysis.

2. Setup

2.1 Frigga M2H Reusable Temp Logger

Before initial use, the M2H logger requires configuration using the Frigga Data Software. This software is compatible with Windows and Mac OS and can be downloaded from the official Frigga website. The software allows you to set critical logging parameters.

  • Delayed Start: Configure a specific time or delay before logging begins.
  • Logging Intervals: Define how frequently data points are recorded.
  • Temperature Units: Select between Celsius (°C) or Fahrenheit (°F).
  • Time Zones: Adjust for local time.
  • Temperature and Humidity Alarm Ranges: Set upper and lower thresholds for alerts.

Connect the M2H logger to your computer via the USB port to access the Frigga Data Software for parameter setup.

The software allows users to configure logging parameters such as temperature units, alarm ranges, logging intervals, and start/stop conditions. This setup process is essential before deploying the logger for data collection.

2.2 Frigga U2 USB Temp Logger

The Frigga U2 is a single-use data logger, typically pre-configured for immediate deployment. No software setup is generally required before starting a logging session.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Starting a Logging Session

  • For M2H: Press and hold the 'START' button until the 'REC' indicator lights up, confirming that logging has begun.
  • For U2: Press and hold the 'START' button until the 'OK' indicator lights up, confirming that logging has begun.

If a delayed start was configured (for M2H), the device will begin logging automatically after the set delay.

3.2 Stopping a Logging Session

  • For M2H: Press and hold the 'STOP' button until the 'REC' indicator turns off.
  • For U2: Press and hold the 'STOP' button until the 'OK' indicator turns off.

Logging will also stop automatically once the memory is full or the configured logging duration ends.

3.3 Retrieving Data Reports

After a logging session is complete, connect the data logger to any computer's USB port. The device will automatically generate a PDF report and a CSV data file. These files can be accessed directly from the device as a removable drive, without the need for additional software installation.

3.4 LED Alarm Indicator

The device features an LED alarm indicator that illuminates if recorded temperature or humidity values (for M2H) exceed the pre-set high or low thresholds. Refer to the device's display or generated report for specific alarm details.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Battery Replacement (M2H Reusable Logger Only)

The Frigga M2H reusable logger uses a replaceable coin cell battery. When the battery level is low, replace it to ensure continuous operation and data integrity.

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the device.
  2. Use a coin or small tool to twist the battery cover counter-clockwise to open.
  3. Remove the old battery and insert a new CR2450 coin cell battery, ensuring correct polarity.
  4. Replace the cover and twist clockwise to secure.

4.2 Cleaning

Wipe the exterior of the device with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the device in water unless specified for its IP rating.

5. Troubleshooting

  • Device Not Starting: Ensure the battery is correctly installed and charged (for M2H). Press and hold the start button firmly for the required duration.
  • No Report Generated: Verify the device is properly connected to a USB port. Ensure the logging session was stopped correctly. Try connecting to a different USB port or computer.
  • Inaccurate Readings: Ensure the device is placed in an environment suitable for its operating range. Avoid placing it near heat sources, direct sunlight, or areas with extreme air currents.
  • LED Alarm Constantly On: Check the generated report to identify if temperature or humidity values have consistently exceeded the set thresholds. Adjust thresholds via Frigga Data Software if necessary (for M2H).
