  • H.264 (MPEG-4 Part 10/AVC): Efficient compression for high-quality video with reduced bandwidth and storage requirements.
  • H.265 (HEVC): Even more efficient than H.264, offering further reductions in bandwidth and storage while maintaining video quality.
  • MJPEG: Provides individual JPEG images, suitable for applications requiring high image quality per frame or specific compatibility.

Select the appropriate compression format based on your network capacity and storage needs.

Day and Night Functionality

The camera automatically switches between day (color) and night (monochrome with IR illumination) modes based on ambient light conditions, ensuring continuous surveillance.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your surveillance system.

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the camera lens and housing with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents. For outdoor units, ensure no debris obstructs the view or ventilation.
  • Firmware Updates: Regularly check the Axis Communications website for firmware updates. Keeping the firmware updated ensures access to the latest features, security patches, and performance improvements.
  • Environmental Check: For outdoor installations, periodically inspect the camera for any signs of wear, damage, or compromised weather sealing. Ensure cables are securely connected and protected.

This section addresses common issues you might encounter.

  • No Power/No Image:
    • Verify the Ethernet cable is securely connected and the PoE source is active.
    • Check the PoE switch or injector for power indicators.
