Setup
Before first use, ensure all packaging materials are removed. The composter comes with a carbon filter that needs to be installed in the designated compartment at the back of the unit. This filter is crucial for odor elimination during the composting process.

Operating Instructions
1. Acceptable Food Waste
The Ouaken composter can process a wide variety of organic materials:
- Fruits and Vegetable Scraps: Banana peels, orange peels, potato skins, pea shells.
- Coffee Grounds: Including coffee filters.
- Food Leftovers: Fish bones, leftover bread slices, shrimp heads, cheese, cooked meat.
- Plants: Fallen leaves, yard trimmings, houseplants.
- Soft-Shelled Items: Eggshells, shrimp shells.
- Grains & Nuts: Most types of grains and nuts.
- Tissues & Papers: Small amounts of paper towels and napkins.

2. Prohibited Waste
Avoid placing the following items into the composter to prevent damage and ensure proper function:
- Hard Bones: Large animal bones.
- Tough Husks: Such as coconut shells or macadamia nut shells.
- Glass & Metal: Any glass or metal objects.
- Plastic: Any plastic materials.
- Cooking Oils: Liquid cooking oils.
- Foil Wrap: Aluminum foil or similar wraps.
- Paper & Tape: Large quantities of paper or adhesive tape.
- Disposable Tableware: Plastic or non-compostable disposable items.

3. Adding Waste and Selecting Modes
To begin, simply lift the transparent lid and add your food scraps to the inner bucket. The 4L capacity is suitable for a family's daily food waste. Once loaded, close the lid and select your desired operating mode using the easy-touch interface.

- Crush Mode (3-8 hours): Primarily reduces waste volume and odors with low energy consumption.
- Ferment Mode (12-17.5 hours): Accelerates the fermentation process to create high-quality compost/fertilizer.
- Clean Mode: For automatic cleaning of the inner bucket.
The composter operates at a low noise level (below 40dBA) and features a large capacity carbon filter to eliminate odors, ensuring a fresh-smelling kitchen.

Maintenance
Maintaining your Ouaken composter is straightforward:
- Detachable Bucket: The inner bucket is detachable and dishwasher safe for easy cleaning.
- Auto-Cleaning Function: Use the 'Clean' mode for automatic cleaning. Simply add water to the fill line and activate the mode. The dirty water can then be used to water plants.
- Carbon Filter Replacement: The composter will alert you when the carbon filter reaches its 1000-hour usage limit, indicating it's time for replacement to maintain odor-free performance.

Troubleshooting
- Clumping: If processed materials clump, it may be due to repeatedly treating the same batch or overfilling. Always empty the bucket before starting a new cycle.
- Odor: If odors persist, check the carbon filter. The composter will alert you when it needs replacement (after approximately 1000 hours of use).
- Jamming: Avoid placing unreasonably large chunks of food or prohibited items (e.g., hard bones, tough husks) to prevent the composter from jamming.
