Setup and Installation
The Kohler Cimarron toilet tank is designed for straightforward installation. Ensure you have all necessary tools and components before starting.
- Preparation: Turn off the water supply to the toilet area. Flush the existing toilet to empty the tank and bowl. Disconnect the water supply line and remove the old tank if applicable.
- DryLock™ System: The DryLock™ system simplifies installation and helps prevent leaks. Position the tank gasket and bolts according to the included hardware instructions.
- Tank Placement: Carefully place the new Cimarron tank onto the toilet bowl, aligning the bolts with the holes in the bowl. Secure the tank to the bowl using the provided nuts and washers, tightening them evenly until snug. Do not overtighten.
- Water Supply Connection: Connect the water supply line to the tank's fill valve. Ensure all connections are hand-tightened, then use a wrench for a final quarter-turn.
- Water Supply Activation: Slowly turn on the water supply valve. Check for any leaks around the tank base and water supply connection. Allow the tank to fill.

Operating Instructions
The Kohler Cimarron toilet tank utilizes the AquaPiston® flush technology for efficient water usage and powerful flushing.
- Flushing: To flush the toilet, press down firmly on the left-hand polished chrome trip lever located on the side of the tank.
- AquaPiston® Technology: The AquaPiston® canister allows water to flow into the bowl from all sides (360 degrees), increasing the power and effectiveness of the flush while using only 1.28 gallons of water per flush.
- Refilling: After flushing, the tank will automatically refill to the appropriate water level.

Maintenance
Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your toilet tank.
- Cleaning the Exterior: Clean the vitreous china surface with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish.
- Cleaning the Interior: Periodically inspect the inside of the tank for mineral buildup. If necessary, use a toilet tank cleaner specifically designed for internal components, following the product's instructions.
- Trip Lever: Ensure the trip lever operates smoothly. If it becomes stiff, a small amount of silicone-based lubricant can be applied to the pivot points.
- Water Level: The water level in the tank should be at the waterline mark indicated inside the tank. If it is too high or too low, adjust the fill valve according to the manufacturer's instructions (typically found on the fill valve itself or in a separate guide).
Troubleshooting
Here are some common issues and their potential solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Toilet runs continuously | Flapper/canister seal not seating properly; fill valve not shutting off; trip lever sticking. | Check for obstructions under the canister seal. Adjust or replace the fill valve. Ensure the trip lever linkage is free. |
| Weak flush | Low water level in tank; clogged siphon jet or rim holes in bowl (not tank issue); partially closed water supply valve. | Adjust water level to the waterline mark. Ensure water supply valve is fully open. (For bowl clogs, consult a plumber). |
| Tank not filling | Water supply valve closed; fill valve malfunction. | Open the water supply valve. Inspect or replace the fill valve. |
| Leaks at tank base | Tank bolts loose; tank gasket improperly seated or damaged. | Tighten tank bolts evenly (do not overtighten). Inspect and replace the tank gasket if damaged. |
