6.2. Mount Brackets to Truck Bed
- Position the assembled extender frame in your truck bed with the tailgate down to determine the optimal mounting locations for the quick mount brackets.
- Use the provided drilling templates to mark the drill points on the side pillars of your truck bed. Ensure the location allows for the 180° flip design to function without obstruction.
- Using a drill and the supplied drill bit (if applicable), carefully drill pilot holes at the marked locations.
- Attach the quick mount brackets to the truck bed using the supplied self-tapping screws. Ensure they are firmly secured.

7. Operating the Truck Bed Extender
The LOX ROX Mid Extender features a versatile 180° flip design, allowing for two primary modes of operation:
7.1. Tailgate Extender Mode (Flipped Out)
When the tailgate is down, flip the extender outwards to create an additional 21 inches of loading space. This mode is ideal for transporting longer items such as:
- Ladders
- Wood planks
- Kayaks
- UTVs or ATVs
- Large boxes or cargo
Ensure all cargo is properly secured using the provided strap buckle assemblies or other appropriate tie-downs to prevent shifting during transit.

7.2. Truck Bed Divider Mode (Flipped In)
When the tailgate is closed, flip the extender inwards to create a secure cargo space within the truck bed. This prevents smaller items from rolling around and causing damage, making it suitable for:
- Groceries
- Tools and equipment
- Sports gear
- Luggage
The extender acts as a sturdy barrier, keeping your items organized and contained.

8. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your LOX ROX Truck Bed Extender, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Clean the aluminum frame and plastic components regularly with mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could damage the powder coating.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect all bolts, screws, and connection points for tightness. Re-tighten any loose fasteners.
- Lubrication: Apply a silicone-based lubricant to the pivot points and moving parts annually to ensure smooth operation of the flip mechanism.
- Strap Condition: Check the strap buckle assemblies for fraying or damage. Replace if necessary.
- Rust Prevention: Although the extender has an anti-rust powder coating, inspect for any chips or scratches that could expose the metal to moisture. Touch up any damaged areas with appropriate paint.
9. Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues with your truck bed extender, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Extender does not flip smoothly. | Lack of lubrication at pivot points; debris in mechanism. | Clean pivot points and apply silicone lubricant. Check for obstructions. |
| Extender feels loose or rattles. | Loose mounting screws or assembly bolts. | Inspect and re-tighten all mounting screws and assembly bolts. |
| Extender does not fit truck bed correctly. | Incorrect measurement or installation of mounting brackets. | Verify truck compatibility. Re-check mounting bracket positions using the template and adjust if necessary. Ensure the extender is adjusted to the correct width. |
| Cargo is not secure. | Strap buckle assemblies not used or damaged; improper cargo placement. | Always use strap buckle assemblies. Ensure cargo is placed snugly against the extender. Replace damaged straps. |
