Introduction
Welcome to your new PURPLE LEAF Patio Market Umbrella Base. This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective use of your umbrella base. Please read it thoroughly before assembly and operation to ensure proper functionality and longevity of the product.
Safety Information
- This umbrella base is designed for standard market umbrellas only. It is not recommended for cantilever umbrellas due to different support requirements.
- Ensure the base is filled to the recommended capacity (sand and water) for maximum stability, especially in windy conditions. An improperly filled base may lead to instability and potential damage.
- Always secure the umbrella pole firmly within the base using the tightening knobs. Loose poles can cause the umbrella to sway or fall.
- Exercise caution when moving the base, especially when filled, to prevent injury. Utilize the integrated casters for easier relocation.
- Close your umbrella during strong winds or severe weather to prevent damage to the umbrella or base.

Setup and Assembly
Follow these steps to assemble and prepare your umbrella base for use:
- Unpack Components: Carefully remove all parts from the packaging and inspect for any damage.
- Attach Pole Holder: The umbrella pole holder is typically integrated. If separate, secure it to the main base unit using the provided bolts.
- Install Casters: If not pre-installed, firmly press or screw the casters into their designated slots on the underside of the base.
- Fill the Base:
- Locate and open the fill cap on the top of the base.
- For maximum stability (154 lbs), fill the base with a mixture of 78% sand and 22% water. This ratio provides optimal weight and density.
- Alternatively, you can fill with water only for a 96 lbs load capacity, though sand+water is recommended for better stability.
- Once filled, securely close the fill cap to prevent leakage.
- Insert Umbrella Pole: Place your standard market umbrella pole into the central opening of the base.
- Secure Umbrella Pole: Tighten the two adjustment knobs on the pole holder until the umbrella pole is firmly gripped and stable. Do not overtighten.

Operating Instructions
- Opening the Umbrella: Once the umbrella pole is securely fastened in the base, you can proceed to open your market umbrella according to its specific operating instructions.
- Relocating the Base: To move the umbrella, utilize the integrated casters. Gently tilt the base slightly to engage the casters and roll it to your desired location. Avoid dragging the base to prevent damage to the casters or the base itself.
- Securing in Place: After moving, ensure the base is level and stable. If your casters have locks, engage them to prevent unintended movement.

Maintenance
- Regular Inspection: Periodically check the tightening knobs to ensure the umbrella pole remains secure. Re-tighten if necessary.
- Base Condition: Inspect the base for any cracks, leaks, or other damage, especially after exposure to extreme weather conditions. Address any issues promptly to maintain stability.
- Cleaning: Clean the base with mild soap and water as needed. Use a soft cloth or sponge. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that could damage the HDPE material.
- Winter Storage: If storing the base in freezing temperatures, it is recommended to drain the water and/or sand from the base to prevent freezing and expansion damage, which could crack the material.
Troubleshooting
Umbrella Instability
- Issue: The umbrella wobbles excessively or falls over.
- Solution:
- Ensure the base is filled to its maximum recommended capacity (154 lbs with sand and water).
- Verify the umbrella pole is correctly inserted and the tightening knobs are fully secured.
- Confirm your umbrella is a standard market umbrella and not a cantilever type, which requires a different base.
Difficulty Moving Base
- Issue: The base is hard to move even with casters.
- Solution:
- Ensure the casters are properly installed and free of any debris that might impede their movement.
- The base is heavy when filled. While casters assist, it still requires effort. Use caution and proper body mechanics when moving.
