1. Introduction

The Dune HD Max 8K is a high-end, full-sized media player designed for an immersive audio and video experience. It features an advanced S928X media processor with Dolb Visio VS10 engine, supporting true 8Kp60 decoding and output. Its robust design includes a linear power supply, TCXO chip, and dedicated Hi-Fi digital and analog audio outputs for superior sound quality. This manual provides essential information for setting up, operating, and maintaining your Dune HD Max 8K media player.

2. What's in the Box

Carefully unpack all items and ensure the following components are included:

3. Setup

3.1 Physical Placement and Connections

Place the Dune HD Max 8K on a stable, flat surface with adequate ventilation. Ensure it is positioned away from direct heat sources or excessive moisture. Connect the included HDMI cable from the player's HDMI output to your TV or receiver's HDMI input.

3.2 Power Connection

Connect the power cord to the player's power input and then to a wall outlet. The device features a linear power supply with a magnetically shielded toroidal transformer for clean power delivery.

3.3 Hard Drive Installation (Optional)

The Dune HD Max 8K supports a 3.5-inch SATA HDD up to 20TB. To install, open the HDD rack on the side of the player, slide in the hard drive, and secure it. The HDD rack is vibration-isolated to minimize noise.

3.4 Remote Control Setup

Insert the two AAA batteries into the Bluetooth remote control. The remote features a backlight and learnable buttons for convenience.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Powering On and Initial Boot

Press the power button on the front panel or the remote control to turn on the device. The system will boot up, displaying the Dune HD logo. Follow the on-screen prompts for initial language and network setup.

4.2 Navigation and User Interface

Navigate the user interface using the directional pad and OK button on the remote control. The intuitive GUI (Graphical User Interface) allows quick access to media libraries, settings, and applications.

4.3 Media Playback

Access your media files from connected USB drives, network shares, or the internal HDD. The player supports a wide range of audio and video formats, including 8Kp60 HDR video decoding and output. It also supports the new AV1 video codec for improved efficiency.

4.4 Audio Features

For high-fidelity audio, utilize the dedicated coaxial S/PDIF and I2S-E digital audio outputs, which are based on an XMOS chip for clean signal isolation. The enhanced analog audio output benefits from a dedicated low-noise power chip for the DAC block, ensuring superior sound quality.

4.5 Network Connectivity

Connect to your network via Ethernet or Wi-Fi. This enables access to online streaming services, network storage, and firmware updates. The device supports YouTube 8K HDR content.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

Wipe the exterior of the player with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using liquid cleaners or abrasive materials. Ensure the ventilation slots are clear of dust to maintain optimal airflow.

5.2 Firmware Updates

Periodically check for firmware updates through the system settings. Updates can improve performance, add new features, and resolve issues. Always ensure a stable internet connection during updates.

5.3 Hard Drive Care

If an internal hard drive is installed, ensure proper shutdown procedures are followed to prevent data corruption. The player's design includes a 120mm Noctua fan for additional hard drive cooling, contributing to its longevity.
