4. Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the gasket's sealing effectiveness. Please follow these steps carefully. It is advisable to wear work gloves for hand protection during installation.

Preparation:

  1. Before beginning, turn off the power to your refrigerator/freezer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Remove all contents from the refrigerator and clean the interior.
  3. Clean the door seal slot thoroughly. You can use a soft brush or an old toothbrush to remove any dirt or debris.
  4. The new gasket may have wrinkles from transportation. To restore its original shape and make it more pliable for installation, soak it in hot water (approximately 70°C or 158°F) for 5-10 minutes. Ensure the time is not too long.
  5. After soaking, lay the gasket flat in the sun for an hour or so to allow it to fully recover its shape. Ensure the card slot side is up and the magnetic strip side is down.

Installation Steps:

  1. Carefully remove the old door gasket.
  2. Begin installing the new gasket by securing the four corners first. Align the corners with the card slot and press them firmly into place.
  3. Once the corners are secure, press the middle sections of the gasket back and forth along the slot-in area, working from both sides towards the middle, both up and down, to ensure it is fully seated and docile.
  4. After installation, check for any uneven areas or parts that are not fully pressed into place. If found, use a hair dryer to gently heat the sealing strip and press it firmly into the slot. For areas where adsorption is not in place, use a chopstick or similar tool to gently push the top of the adsorption up and check all around the seal.
  5. To ensure a perfect seal, close the refrigerator door and use wide tape (e.g., painter's tape) to fix the door to the refrigerator body. Leave the tape in place for 12 to 24 hours. This helps the magnetic strip set and activate its magnetism.
  6. After 12 to 24 hours, remove the tape. It is normal for the magnetic force to be weak immediately after installation. The magnetic force will strengthen and improve over 1-3 days of continuous refrigerator operation.
  7. Allow the refrigerator to run for 24 hours to fully set the sealing strip and achieve optimal sealing effect.

5. Operating

Once installed, the ARLBA W10571967 gasket operates passively by creating an airtight seal around your refrigerator or freezer door. This seal prevents warm air from entering and cold air from escaping, maintaining the internal temperature and reducing the appliance's energy consumption.

Ensure the door closes completely and the gasket forms a tight seal. You can test the seal by closing the door on a piece of paper or a dollar bill; if it holds the paper firmly, the seal is effective.

6. Maintenance

To prolong the life and effectiveness of your new door gasket:

  • Regularly inspect the gasket for any signs of wear, tears, or damage.
  • Clean the gasket periodically with a mild soap and water solution. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the EPDM rubber.
  • Ensure the gasket remains free of food particles or debris that could compromise the seal.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues after installing your new gasket, consider the following:

  • Gasket not sealing properly / Uneven installation: If parts of the gasket appear uneven or not fully seated, gently heat the affected area with a hair dryer and press it firmly into the slot. For areas where adsorption is not in place, use a chopstick or similar tool to gently push the top of the adsorption up and check all around the seal.
  • Weak magnetic force: It is normal for the magnetic force to be weak immediately after installation. The magnetic force will strengthen and improve over 1-3 days of continuous refrigerator operation.
  • Continued condensation/frost/ice buildup: Double-check that the gasket is installed correctly and forms a complete seal around the entire door frame. Ensure the door is not overloaded, which could prevent it from closing fully.
