  3. Positioning: Place the coffee maker on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface, away from water sources and heat.

Operating Instructions

Making Espresso

  1. Prepare the Portafilter: Insert the desired filter basket (single or double) into the portafilter. Add finely ground espresso coffee to the basket. Use the measuring scoop to add the correct amount (approx. 7g for single, 14g for double).
  2. Tamp the Coffee: Use the tamper end of the measuring scoop to gently press the coffee grounds evenly. Do not over-tamp.
  3. Attach Portafilter: Align the portafilter with the "INSERT" mark on the brew head. Insert it and turn it firmly to the right until it reaches the "LOCK" position.
  4. Place Cup: Place one or two espresso cups on the drip tray, directly under the portafilter spouts.
  5. Brew Espresso: Ensure the water tank is filled. Turn the control dial to the coffee brewing position (coffee cup icon). The machine will start brewing.
  6. Stop Brewing: Once the desired amount of espresso is brewed (typically 25-30ml per shot), turn the control dial back to the standby position (O icon) to stop the flow.
  7. Enjoy: Your fresh espresso is ready.

Frothing Milk for Cappuccinos and Lattes

  1. Prepare Milk: Fill a stainless steel frothing pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) to about one-third full.
  2. Heat Up for Steam: After brewing espresso, or if starting fresh, turn the control dial to the steam position (steam icon). The steam indicator light will illuminate, indicating the machine is heating up to steam temperature.
  3. Purge Steam Wand: Once the steam indicator light is steady, open the steam knob briefly to release any condensed water from the wand. Close the knob.
  4. Froth Milk: Immerse the tip of the steam wand just below the surface of the milk. Open the steam knob slowly. Move the pitcher up and down gently to create foam. For latte, immerse deeper for less foam.
  5. Stop Frothing: Once the desired texture and temperature are reached, close the steam knob and remove the pitcher.

  6. Clean Steam Wand: Immediately wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to remove any milk residue. Briefly open the steam knob again to clear any milk from inside the wand. Turn the control dial back to the standby position (O icon).

Cleaning and Maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your coffee maker.

  • Daily Cleaning:
    • After each use, remove the portafilter, discard used coffee grounds, and rinse the portafilter and filter basket under running water.
    • Empty and rinse the drip tray.
    • Wipe the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth.
    • Clean the steam wand immediately after frothing milk as described in the operating instructions.
  • Water Tank Cleaning: The transparent water tank should be cleaned regularly with warm soapy water and rinsed thoroughly.
  • Descaling: Over time, mineral deposits can build up in the machine, affecting performance. Descale your coffee maker every 2-3 months, or more frequently if you have hard water.
    • Use a commercial descaling solution suitable for espresso machines, following the manufacturer's instructions.
    • Alternatively, you can use a solution of white vinegar and water (1 part vinegar to 2 parts water).
    • Fill the water tank with the descaling solution.
    • Run the solution through the machine as if brewing coffee, and also through the steam wand, until the tank is empty.
    • Rinse the tank and fill with fresh water. Run several cycles of fresh water through the machine to flush out any descaling solution residue.
