- Lock Type: Key Lock
- Body Material: Steel
- Shackle Material: Steel
- Shackle Diameter: 11 mm
- Body Width: 67 mm
- Included: 2 keys
- Suitability: Outdoor use
Setup
- Unpack the Padlock: Carefully remove the padlock and keys from its packaging.
- Inspect the Padlock: Before first use, visually inspect the padlock for any signs of damage or manufacturing defects. Ensure the shackle moves freely when unlocked and the key turns smoothly.
- Key Management: You are provided with two keys. Keep one key in a safe, accessible location as a spare. Avoid storing both keys together or in the same location as the padlock.
Operating Instructions
To Unlock the Padlock:
- Insert the key fully into the keyway.
- Turn the key clockwise (or counter-clockwise, depending on the lock mechanism) until the shackle springs open or can be pulled open.
- Remove the key. The padlock is now open.
To Lock the Padlock:
- Close the shackle by pushing it firmly into the lock body until it clicks into place.
- Without the key, attempt to pull the shackle open to ensure it is securely locked.
- The padlock is now locked. The key is not required to lock the padlock.
Maintenance
- Lubrication: For smooth operation, especially in outdoor or dusty environments, periodically apply a small amount of graphite lubricant or a silicone-based lubricant into the keyway. Avoid using oil-based lubricants as they can attract dirt.
- Cleaning: Wipe the padlock body and shackle with a clean, dry cloth to remove dirt and grime. For stubborn dirt, a damp cloth can be used, followed by thorough drying.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the padlock in a dry environment to prevent corrosion.
Troubleshooting
- Key is difficult to insert or turn:
- Ensure the key is fully inserted and oriented correctly.
- Apply a graphite or silicone-based lubricant to the keyway.
- Check for any debris in the keyway and attempt to clear it gently.
- Shackle is stiff or does not open/close smoothly:
- Lubricate the shackle mechanism where it enters the lock body.
- Clean any accumulated dirt or rust from the shackle and around the shackle holes.
- Padlock appears frozen in cold weather:
- Use a de-icing spray specifically designed for locks, or gently warm the lock with your hands or a warm cloth (avoid direct flame).
- Regular lubrication can help prevent freezing.
