Carefully remove the simplehuman 45L Semi-Round Sensor Can from its packaging. Place the can in your desired location, ensuring the motion sensor area is clear of obstructions for optimal performance. The semi-round design allows it to sit flush against a wall.

Locate the battery compartment, typically on the back or underside of the lid mechanism. This model requires four (4) AA batteries. Insert the batteries according to the polarity indicators (+/-) inside the compartment. Close the battery cover securely.
Lift the outer lid of the can. The liner rim will lift up, providing easy access. Place a simplehuman Code J custom fit liner (or a compatible standard trash bag) into the can, ensuring the top edge of the bag is tucked neatly under the liner rim. Lower the liner rim to secure the bag in place. This design ensures the bag remains hidden from view.

To open the lid, simply wave your hand over the motion sensor located on the front of the lid. The lid will open automatically and remain open as long as your hand is within the sensor's range. Once your hand moves away, the lid will gently and quietly close after a few seconds.

While primarily sensor-operated, some models may feature a manual open/close button or a stay-open function. Refer to your specific model's instructions for details on these features.
The matte black steel finish is designed to resist fingerprints. For general cleaning, wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as these can damage the finish. For the interior, wipe down the liner rim and inside surfaces as needed, especially during liner changes.
When the trash bag is full, lift the outer lid, remove the full bag, and dispose of it. Pull a new liner from the integrated liner pocket (if using simplehuman custom fit liners) or retrieve a new bag. Install the new liner as described in the Setup section.
This sensor can is compatible with simplehuman Odorsorb Pods. These pods contain a natural plant oil-based formula that targets and neutralizes trash odors for up to 45 days. Replace the pod as needed for continuous odor control.
