Setup
1. Powering On
Before first use, gently remove the battery insulation sheet from the sensor. The green LED indicator will flash quickly (5 times/second), indicating the device has entered networking status and is ready for pairing.
2. Pairing with Your Smart Home Ecosystem
The HEIMAN Smart Motion Sensor supports Matter over Thread. A Matter-compatible Thread Border Router is required for operation. Compatible hubs include:
- Apple Home: Apple TV 4K (2nd gen / 3rd gen 128 GB), HomePod (2nd gen), HomePod mini
- Samsung SmartThings: SmartThings Hub v3
- Google Home: Nest Hub (2nd gen), Nest Hub Max, Nest Wifi, Nest Wifi Pro
- Amazon Alexa: Echo (4th gen), Echo Hub, Echo Plus (2nd gen), Echo Show 8 (3rd gen), Echo Show 10 (3rd gen), Echo Studio, eero 6 / 6+ / Pro 6 / Pro 6E / Max 7
To pair the device:
- Open your preferred Matter-compatible smart home application (e.g., Apple Home, Google Home, SmartThings).
- Select the option to "Add Device" or "Add Accessory".
- Scan the Matter QR setup code located in the user manual or on the product itself.
- Follow the on-screen prompts in the app to complete the pairing process. This may include selecting a location for the sensor and assigning a custom name.

Installation
The motion sensor can be installed indoors in almost any desired location using the included 3M adhesive. The versatile 360° stand allows for effortless adjustment of the viewing angle.
Mounting Options:
- Wall Mounting: Ideal for detecting motion across a room or hallway.
- Ceiling Mounting: Provides a wider detection area, suitable for larger spaces.
- Tabletop Placement: Can be placed on a flat surface for temporary or flexible use.

Installation Location to Avoid:
To ensure optimal performance and prevent false alarms, avoid installing the sensor in locations with:
- Direct exposure to sunlight.
- Rotatable objects nearby that could cause unintended motion detection.
- Proximity to air conditioners or heat sources.
- Areas where pets may frequently trigger the sensor.
- Outdoor environments (this sensor is designed for indoor use only).
Operating
Once installed and paired, the HEIMAN Smart Motion Sensor will continuously monitor for motion and light levels in its detection area. You can view real-time status and create automations within your chosen smart home app.
Smart Linkage and Automations:
The sensor's capabilities extend beyond simple alerts. You can set up smart linkages to automate actions with other devices in your ecosystem:
- Motion-Activated Lighting: Configure smart lights to turn on automatically when motion is detected in a room, and turn off after a set period of no motion.
- Security Alerts: Receive instant notifications on your phone if motion is detected when you are away from home.
- Light-Sensitive Automations: Use the integrated light sensor to refine automations, for example, only turning on lights if motion is detected AND the ambient light is dim.

Maintenance
Battery Replacement:
The HEIMAN Motion Sensor uses a CR2 battery. When the battery level is low, your smart home app will typically notify you. To replace the battery:
- Locate the small disassembly hole on the side of the sensor unit.
- Insert the provided pin key (or a small paper clip) into the disassembly hole and gently press.
- While pressing the pin, push the sensor body upwards towards the cover until it opens and the cover can be removed.
- Remove the old CR2 battery.
- Insert a new CR2 battery, paying attention to the positive (+) and negative (-) electrode signs inside the battery compartment.
- Align the upward sign on the cover with the corresponding mark on the sensor body.
- Press the cover firmly until it is securely closed.

Troubleshooting
- Device not pairing: Ensure you have a Matter-compatible Thread Border Router. Try turning Bluetooth or Wi-Fi off and on, or restart your phone and reconnect.
- No motion detection: Verify the sensor is installed in an optimal location, avoiding areas with direct sunlight, heat sources, or frequent pet activity. Ensure the detection area is clear of obstructions.
- False alarms: Re-evaluate the installation location. Adjust the sensor's angle using the 360° bracket to minimize detection of unintended movements (e.g., curtains swaying, small pets).
- Slow response: Ensure your Thread network is stable and your Thread Border Router is functioning correctly. Proximity to the Thread Border Router can improve response time.
