2. Setup

2.1 Battery Installation and Charging

The TA20 flashlight is powered by a rechargeable 16340 Li-ion battery (included) or can use a non-rechargeable CR123A low-temperature resistant battery. The included 16340 battery features a convenient Type-C charging port directly on the battery itself.

  1. Unscrew the tail cap of the flashlight counter-clockwise to access the battery compartment.
  2. Insert the 16340 Li-ion battery with the positive (+) end facing towards the flashlight head.
  3. Screw the tail cap back on clockwise until secure.
  4. To charge the 16340 battery, remove it from the flashlight. Connect a Type-C USB cable (included) to the port on the battery and plug the other end into a compatible USB power source. The battery's indicator light will show charging status (e.g., red for charging, blue for fully charged).

3. Operating Instructions

The NEXTORCH TA20 features a patented multi-functional design allowing for quick switching between three primary modes: Tactical, Duty, and Lock. This is achieved by rotating the barrel head of the flashlight.

3.1 Mode Selection

  • Lock Mode: Rotate the barrel head to the 'LOCK' position. This mode prevents accidental activation, conserving battery life and ensuring the flashlight does not turn on unintentionally in a bag or pocket.
  • Duty Mode: Rotate the barrel head to the 'DUTY' position. In this mode, a light press of the tail switch provides momentary-on. A full press turns the light on constantly. While on, light presses of the tail switch will cycle through the brightness levels: High (1000 lm), Medium (190 lm), and Low (25 lm).
  • Tactical Mode: Rotate the barrel head to the 'TAC' position. In this mode, a light press of the tail switch provides momentary-on. A heavy press of the tail switch activates the Strobe mode (1000 lm). This mode is designed for rapid response and disorienting effects.

3.2 Special Features

  • Variable Frequency One-Step Strobe: Available in Tactical Mode, this feature provides instant access to a powerful strobe for self-defense or signaling.
  • Ceramic Glass Breaker: The ultra-high hardness ceramic bead head, second only to diamond in hardness, can be used to quickly break car window glass for emergency rescue or tactical entry.
  • FR-1 Tactical Ring: The included FR-1 tactical ring enhances grip and allows for flexible use, easy access, and hands-free operation in various scenarios.

4. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your NEXTORCH TA20 flashlight, regular maintenance is recommended.

  • Cleaning: Wipe the flashlight body with a clean, soft cloth. For the lens, use a lens cleaning cloth to avoid scratches.
  • O-rings: Periodically inspect the O-rings for wear and tear. Apply silicone grease to the O-rings and threads to maintain waterproof integrity.
  • Battery Care: Store the battery in a cool, dry place when not in use. If storing for extended periods, charge the battery every 3-6 months to prevent deep discharge.
  • Waterproof Rating: The TA20 is IPX8 rated (2 meters submersible), ensuring reliable operation in wet conditions. Always ensure the tail cap is fully tightened before exposing the flashlight to water.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your NEXTORCH TA20 flashlight, please refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • Flashlight Not Turning On:
    • Check if the battery is properly inserted with correct polarity.
    • Ensure the battery is charged.
    • Verify the barrel head is not in 'LOCK' mode.
    • Clean the battery contacts and tail switch spring with a clean cloth.
  • Intermittent Operation:
    • Tighten the tail cap and head of the flashlight firmly. Loose connections can cause intermittent power.
    • Check for any debris or corrosion on the battery contacts or threads.
  • Dim Light Output:
    • The battery may be low; recharge it fully.
    • Ensure the flashlight is not in a lower brightness mode (e.g., Low or Medium in Duty Mode).

If these steps do not resolve the issue, please contact NEXTORCH customer support for further assistance.
