Figure 3: Corresponding connection points for the 17A controller. Ensure each component is connected to its designated port.

Wiring Connections:

  • Motor (9pin): Connect the motor cable to this port.
  • Power (XT60): Connect your battery's XT60 plug here.
  • Display (5pin): Connect the CS866 LCD display cable.
  • PAS (3pin): Connect the Pedal Assist Sensor.
  • Throttle (3pin): Connect the throttle unit.
  • Brakes (2pin*2): Connect your brake levers.
  • Lights (2pin*2): Connect your ebike lights. Note that this plug only provides power; an external switch or display control is needed to turn lights on/off.
  • Self-study (1pin*2): Use these white learning lines for motor phase angle and rotation direction learning. Connect them briefly to initiate the learning process, then disconnect.

Display Wiring (TFT CS866):

The CS866 display uses a specific line sequence for communication. Refer to the diagram below for correct wiring if assembling individual components.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your JOCHEN Ebike controller and display, follow these general maintenance guidelines:

  • Keep all components clean and dry. Avoid exposure to excessive moisture or direct water spray.
  • Regularly check all cable connections for tightness and signs of wear or corrosion. Ensure plugs are fully seated.
  • Avoid subjecting the controller or display to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight for prolonged periods.
  • Do not attempt to open the controller or display casing, as this may void the warranty and risk damage to internal components.
  • If cleaning is necessary, use a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your JOCHEN Ebike system, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

Display Error Codes ('E' Codes):

The display may show error codes to indicate specific problems. The character 'E' indicates a fault error.

  • E07 (Motor Fault): This indicates an issue with the motor or its connection to the controller.
    • Check all motor phase wire connections and Hall sensor connections.
    • Ensure the motor is not obstructed.
    • Perform the self-learning function again (connect white learning lines briefly).
  • E10 (Communications Receiving Error): This suggests a problem with the communication between the display and the controller.
    • Check the 5-pin display cable connection at both the display and controller ends.
    • Ensure the cable is not damaged or pinched.
  • Display Does Not Turn On (DOA):
    • Verify that the battery is charged and properly connected to the controller's XT60 plug.
    • Check the 5-pin display cable connection.
    • Ensure the power button on the display is pressed and held for 3 seconds to turn on.
    • Confirm the battery voltage is within the compatible range (24V/36V/48V) and P03 parameter is set correctly.
  • Controller Runs Hot:
    • Ensure the motor is not overloaded or experiencing excessive resistance.
    • Verify that your battery's BMS (Battery Management System) can handle the current draw (e.g., 17A for this controller). An inadequate BMS can cause the system to shut off under load.
    • Ensure proper ventilation around the controller.

If the problem persists after attempting these solutions, please contact customer support.
