1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the setup, operation, and maintenance of your Pretfy D1002 TAM-D 2-Handset Cordless Phone with Answering Machine. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the device to ensure proper functionality and to prevent damage.

The Pretfy D1002 TAM-D system includes two cordless handsets and a base unit with an integrated answering machine. It supports Caller ID, Call Waiting, and offers a 1.6-inch LCD with 3 lines display. The system is designed for home and office use, supporting up to 16 interface languages.

2. Package Contents

3. Setup

3.1. Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of each handset.
  2. Insert the rechargeable batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -).
  3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

3.2. Base Unit Connection

  1. Connect the telephone line cord to the TEL LINE jack on the base unit and to your telephone wall jack.
  2. Connect the AC power adapter to the POWER jack on the base unit and plug it into a standard electrical outlet.
  3. Place each handset on its respective charging cradle or the base unit. Allow the handsets to charge for at least 12-15 hours before initial use.

3.3. Handset Registration

Your handsets are typically pre-registered to the base unit. If a handset displays "Unregistered" or similar, follow these steps:

  1. On the base unit, press and hold the PAGE button for approximately 5 seconds until the registration indicator light flashes.
  2. On the handset, navigate to the Registration menu (refer to the handset menu options).
  3. Select Register Handset and follow the on-screen prompts. You may need to enter a PIN (default is usually 0000).
  4. Once registered, the handset will display its assigned number (e.g., HS 1, HS 2).

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Basic Call Functions

  • Making a Call: Press the TALK button, then dial the number. Alternatively, dial the number first (pre-dialing), then press TALK.
  • Answering a Call: When the phone rings, press the TALK button.
  • Ending a Call: Press the END button or place the handset back on the charging cradle.
  • Redial: Press the REDIAL button to view the last dialed numbers. Select a number and press TALK to call.
  • Pause: During dialing, press the PAUSE button to insert a pause.

4.2. Answering Machine

The base unit features an integrated answering machine with a maximum recording time of 240 minutes.

  • Recording Outgoing Message (OGM): You can record two groups of OGM. Refer to the base unit's menu for recording instructions.
  • Playing Messages: Press the PLAY button on the base unit to listen to recorded messages.
  • Memo Recording: Record memos up to 120 seconds.

4.3. Phonebook

The phonebook can store up to 50 entries, each with a maximum of 12 characters for the name and 20 digits for the number.

  • Adding an Entry: Navigate to the Phonebook menu on the handset, select Add New, and enter the name and number.
  • Calling from Phonebook: Access the phonebook, scroll to the desired entry, and press TALK.

4.4. Caller ID / Call Waiting

  • Caller ID: The handset displays the caller's number (and name if available in your phonebook or provided by your service provider) for incoming calls. The phone stores up to 30 incoming numbers.
  • Call Waiting: If you subscribe to Call Waiting service, you will hear a tone indicating another incoming call while you are on the phone.

4.5. Language Settings

The handset supports 16 interface languages:

Spanish, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Hungarian, Greek, Polish, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, Turkish, Russian, and Ukrainian.

To change the language, navigate to the Settings menu on the handset and select Language.

4.6. Ringer Settings

  • Ringer Melodies: Choose from 10 available ringer melodies.
  • Volume Adjustment: Adjust the ringer volume to your preference.
  • Flash Time: Select flash times of 100/300/600/1000ms to match telephone line or automatic exchanger requirements.

4.7. Conference Call

The system supports a three-way conference call feature, allowing an external call to be connected with two handsets.

4.8. Other Features

  • LCD Backlight: The handset LCD features a backlight for improved visibility.
  • Keypad Lock: Lock the keypad to prevent accidental dialing.
  • Mute: Mute your microphone during a call.
  • Alarm Clock: Set an alarm using the handset menu.
  • Dialing Barring: Restrict certain outgoing calls.

5. Maintenance

  • Clean the phone surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Do not immerse the phone or base unit in water.
  • Keep the phone away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and moisture.
  • Ensure the charging contacts on the handset and cradle are clean for proper charging.
  • Replace rechargeable batteries when their performance significantly degrades. Use only recommended battery types.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1. No Dial Tone

  • Ensure the telephone line cord is securely connected to both the base unit and the wall jack.
  • Verify the AC power adapter is properly connected to the base unit and a working electrical outlet.
  • Check if the handset batteries are charged.

6.2. Handset Not Charging

  • Ensure the handset is correctly seated in the charging cradle.
  • Clean the charging contacts on both the handset and the cradle with a dry cloth.
  • Verify the power adapter for the base unit is connected.

6.3. Poor Call Quality / Static

  • Move closer to the base unit. Cordless phone range can be affected by obstacles and distance.
  • Avoid placing the base unit near other electronic devices that may cause interference (e.g., Wi-Fi routers, microwaves).
  • Check your telephone line for any damage or loose connections.

6.4. Answering Machine Not Recording

  • Ensure the answering machine function is turned ON.
  • Check if the memory is full. Delete old messages if necessary.
