3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Mounting

The TOMPD-8S is designed for DIN rail mounting. Ensure the DIN rail is securely installed in a suitable enclosure, away from excessive heat, moisture, and vibration. Snap the device onto the DIN rail by aligning the clips and pressing firmly until it locks into place.

3.2 Wiring

Refer to the wiring diagram below for proper connection. Ensure all power is disconnected before performing any wiring. Use appropriate wire gauges for the rated current and voltage.

Figure 2: Wiring diagram illustrating connections for the TOMPD-8S. L(+) and N(-) are input power, with fuses for protection. The output contacts (18(14), 15(11), 26(22), 25(21)) connect to a contactor (KM) which controls the LOAD. The device is powered by the monitored circuit.

  • Connect the main power supply (L+ and N-) to the designated input terminals of the device.
  • Connect the control contacts (1 CO & 1 NC) to the coil of a contactor (KM) or other control circuit that will manage the load.
  • Ensure proper grounding if required by local electrical codes.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Initial Power-Up

Once wired, apply power to the device. The LCD display will illuminate, showing the current voltage. The device will perform a self-test and then enter monitoring mode.

4.2 Button Functions

  • MOD (Mode) Button: Press to cycle through different display modes (current voltage, overvoltage setting, undervoltage setting, delay times, reset mode) and to enter/exit setting mode.
  • + (Increase) Button: Used to increase parameter values during setting.
  • - (Decrease) Button: Used to decrease parameter values during setting.
  • RST (Reset) Button: Used to manually reset the device after a fault, if manual reset mode is selected.

4.3 Setting Parameters

To adjust settings such as overvoltage (OV) and undervoltage (UV) thresholds, and delay times:

  1. Press and hold the MOD button until the display shows a flashing parameter (e.g., 'OV' or 'UV').
  2. Use the + and - buttons to adjust the value.
  3. Press MOD again to confirm the setting and move to the next parameter, or to exit setting mode.
  4. Repeat for all desired parameters, including overvoltage threshold, undervoltage threshold, overvoltage delay time, undervoltage delay time, and reset mode (Auto/Manual).

5. Maintenance

The TOMPD-8S is designed for reliable operation with minimal maintenance. Periodically inspect the device and its connections for any signs of damage, loose wiring, or excessive dust accumulation. Ensure proper ventilation around the device. Disconnect power before cleaning or inspecting.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Device not powering on: Check input voltage connections (L+, N-) and ensure power supply is active. Verify fuses in the circuit.
  • Device tripping unexpectedly: Review overvoltage and undervoltage settings. Compare settings with actual line voltage fluctuations. Adjust delay times if nuisance tripping occurs due to momentary voltage spikes or dips.
  • Load not engaging after fault: If in manual reset mode, press the RST button. Check the contactor (KM) and its coil for proper operation.
  • Incorrect voltage reading: Ensure proper connection to the monitored circuit. If readings are consistently off, contact technical support.

The device records the last 3 faults, which can be accessed via the MOD button to assist in diagnosis.
