Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the heater's surface to remove algae or mineral buildup. Always unplug the heater and allow it to cool before removing it from the water for cleaning. Use a soft cloth or sponge and aquarium-safe cleaning solutions if necessary.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect the heater and power cord for any signs of wear, cracks, or damage. Replace the unit if any damage is observed.
  • Water Changes: Ensure the heater remains fully submerged during water changes. If the water level drops below the heater, unplug it immediately and allow it to cool before refilling the tank.

Troubleshooting

  • Heater Not Heating:
    • Check if the USB power adapter is properly connected and receiving power.
    • Ensure the heater is fully submerged in water.
    • Verify the temperature setting on the external controller. The red indicator light should be on if heating is active.
  • Water Temperature Too Low/High:
    • Confirm the set temperature on the controller matches your desired temperature.
    • Ensure the heater is appropriately sized for your tank. This 10W heater is designed for tanks up to 2.5 gallons. Larger tanks may require a higher wattage heater.
    • Check for drafts or significant room temperature fluctuations that might affect the tank temperature.
    • Use an independent thermometer to verify the actual water temperature, as the sticker thermometer may have slight variations.
  • Suction Cup Not Holding:
    • Clean the tank wall and the suction cup thoroughly to remove any algae or debris.
    • Press the suction cup firmly against the glass to ensure a secure attachment.
