5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off

Press the power button to turn the device on. The display will illuminate. To power off, press and hold the power button until the display turns off. The device also features an auto power-off function to conserve battery life after a period of inactivity.

5.2 RCD Testing

The RCD (Residual Current Device) test function measures the trip-out current and trip-out time of RCDs to ensure they operate correctly for safety. Refer to the on-screen prompts and the device's rotary switch for selecting RCD test parameters (e.g., current level, type).

5.3 Loop Resistance Testing

The loop resistance test measures the resistance of the earth fault loop. Select the LOOP function on the rotary switch. Connect the test leads to the circuit as instructed. The device will display the loop resistance value. Note that this model supports loop resistance (RL) measurement with a minimum display of 3 ohms. Measurements resulting in 1-2 ohms are not supported by this model.

5.4 Data Storage and Transfer

The MS5910 can store up to 100 groups of test results. Use the 'MEMO' button to save readings. To transfer stored data to a PC, connect the device using the provided USB cable. The included CD contains the necessary software for data retrieval and analysis.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these may damage the casing or display.

6.2 Battery Replacement

When the low battery voltage alarm activates, replace all six AA batteries promptly to ensure accurate measurements and prevent data loss. Refer to Section 4.1 for battery installation instructions.

6.3 Storage

Store the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.

7. Troubleshooting

7.1 Device Does Not Power On

  • Check if batteries are correctly installed with proper polarity.
  • Replace old or depleted batteries with new ones.

7.2 Inaccurate Readings

  • Ensure test leads are securely connected to both the device and the circuit under test.
  • Verify that the correct measurement function and range are selected.
  • Check battery level; low batteries can affect accuracy.

7.3 Loop Resistance Measurement Issues

If the loop resistance measurement is not displayed or seems incorrect, remember that this model supports loop resistance (RL) measurement with a minimum display of 3 ohms. Measurements resulting in 1-2 ohms are not supported and will not be displayed accurately.
