  • Power On/Off: Turns the device on or off.
  • Wireless Audio Control: Manages connection and volume for wireless headphones.
  • Lighting Controls: Adjusts flashlight, display backlight, and keypad backlight.
  • Detect Mode: Cycles through available search modes.
  • All-Metal Mode: Engages a mode that detects all metals without discrimination.
  • Pinpoint/Detect: Activates pinpointing for precise target location.
  • Sensitivity/Settings Adjust: Increases or decreases sensitivity and navigates settings.
  • Accept/Reject: Used for discrimination settings.
  • Frequency Select: Allows selection of operating frequencies.

3. Multi-IQ Technology

The X-Terra Elite utilizes MINELAB's Multi-IQ Simultaneous Multi-Frequency Technology, allowing it to operate on multiple frequencies simultaneously. This provides enhanced detection capabilities across various ground conditions and target types, ensuring nothing goes undiscovered.

4. Search Modes

The detector offers six pre-programmed search modes optimized for different environments:

  • 2 x Park Modes: Ideal for detecting in high-trash areas like parks and recreational grounds.
  • 2 x Field Modes: Suitable for open fields, agricultural land, and general relic hunting.
  • 2 x Beach Modes: Designed for wet and dry sand, and shallow water detection, compensating for saltwater mineralization.

5. Audio Interpretation

The X-Terra Elite provides all-tone audio responses. Different tones indicate the type, depth, and size of the detected target. Learning to interpret these audio cues will significantly improve your detecting efficiency. Higher tones generally indicate more conductive targets (e.g., silver, copper), while lower tones suggest less conductive targets (e.g., iron).

6. Waterproof Capability

The X-Terra Elite is fully waterproof and submersible up to 16 ft (5 m). This allows for effective detection in shallow water, rivers, and beaches. Ensure all connections are secure before submerging the device.

7. Pinpointing with PRO-FIND 40

Once a target is detected, switch to Pinpoint mode on the main detector, then use the PRO-FIND 40 pinpointer for precise location. The PRO-FIND 40 offers increased depth, adjustable 5-level sensitivity, Rapid Re-tune, ferrous tone ID, and a lost-alarm feature.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: After each use, especially in wet or sandy conditions, wipe down the detector and coils with a damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Storage: Store the detector in a cool, dry place. If storing for extended periods, ensure the battery is partially charged (around 50%) to preserve battery health.
  • Coil Care: Inspect search coils and cables regularly for damage. The skidplate protects the coil from abrasion and can be replaced if worn.
  • Battery Care: Avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Recharge as needed.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Detector does not power onLow or depleted batteryCharge the detector's battery using the provided cable.
