1. Introduction

4. Setup
4.1 Connecting to Your Device
- Identify the USB-C Port: Locate an available USB-C port on your computer (PC or Mac), smartphone, tablet, or gaming console.
- Connect the Cable: Insert one end of the provided USB-C to USB-C cable into the Verbatim Pocket SSD.
- Connect to Host Device: Insert the other end of the USB-C cable into the USB-C port of your host device.
- Device Recognition: Your operating system should automatically detect the SSD. It may appear as a new drive in 'My Computer' (Windows) or 'Finder' (Mac).

4.2 Initial Formatting (Optional)
The Verbatim Pocket SSD comes pre-formatted for general use. However, if you wish to optimize it for a specific operating system or file system (e.g., APFS for Mac, NTFS for Windows, exFAT for cross-platform compatibility), you may need to reformat it.
Warning: Formatting the drive will erase all data on it. Back up any important data before proceeding.
- Windows: Open 'Disk Management', right-click the SSD, and select 'Format'. Choose your desired file system.
- Mac: Open 'Disk Utility', select the SSD, and click 'Erase'. Choose your desired format and scheme.
5. Operating the SSD
5.1 Data Transfer
Transferring files to and from the Verbatim Pocket SSD is similar to using any other external storage device:
- Drag and Drop: Click and drag files or folders from your computer to the SSD icon, or vice-versa.
- Copy and Paste: Right-click on files/folders, select 'Copy', then navigate to the desired location on the SSD, right-click, and select 'Paste'.
The SSD utilizes USB 3.2 Gen 2 technology, offering data transfer speeds of up to 10 Gbps (1000 MB/s read and write). Actual speeds may vary based on your host device, operating system, file size, and other factors.

5.2 Using with Consoles and TVs
The Verbatim Pocket SSD can be used to expand storage for compatible gaming consoles and smart TVs. Refer to your console or TV's user manual for specific instructions on connecting and formatting external storage devices.
5.3 Nero Backup Software (Windows Only)
For Windows users, the included Nero backup software can be used to create backups of your important files. Install the software from the provided source and follow its on-screen instructions for backup and restore operations. This software is not compatible with Mac OS.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Safe Ejection
Always safely eject the SSD before disconnecting it from your device to prevent data corruption:
- Windows: Click the 'Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media' icon in the system tray, then select the SSD.
- Mac: Drag the SSD icon from your desktop to the Trash, or right-click the icon and select 'Eject'.
6.2 Physical Care
- Use the provided protective case to guard against scratches and minor impacts.
- Clean the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Utilize the integrated cable holder and keyring for organized and secure transport.

7. Troubleshooting
- SSD not detected:
Ensure the USB-C cable is securely connected to both the SSD and the host device.
Try a different USB-C port on your device.
Restart your computer/device.
Check 'Disk Management' (Windows) or 'Disk Utility' (Mac) to see if the drive is recognized but unformatted.
- Slow transfer speeds:
Ensure your host device's USB-C port supports USB 3.2 Gen 2 for optimal speeds.
Large numbers of small files transfer slower than a few large files.
Close other applications that might be using system resources.
- Data corruption:
Always safely eject the SSD before disconnecting it.
Avoid physical shocks or drops during operation.
