  • Installation work and electrical wiring must be done by qualified person(s) in accordance with all applicable codes and standards, including fire-rated construction.
  • Sufficient air is needed for proper combustion and exhausting of gases through the flue (chimney) of fuel burning equipment to prevent back-drafting. Follow the heating equipment manufacturer’s guideline and safety standards such as those published by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and the American Society for Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and the local code authorities.
  • When cutting or drilling into wall or ceiling, do not damage electrical wiring and other hidden utilities.
  • Ducted fans must always be vented to the outdoors.
  • Do not use this unit with any solid-state speed control device.
  • This unit is intended for general ventilating use only. Do not use to exhaust hazardous or explosive materials and vapors.
  • To reduce the risk of fire and to properly exhaust air, be sure to duct air outside – Do not vent exhaust air into spaces within walls or ceilings, attics, crawl spaces, or garages.

4. Installation

The Broan-NuTone GLA2303BLS range hood features the EZ1 Install System, designed for quick and easy one-person installation.

4.1 Pre-Installation Considerations

  • Determine your venting method: The hood is convertible and can accommodate top or rear venting applications, or non-ducted operation using charcoal filters (sold separately, Model HPF30).
  • Power connection: The range hood can be installed as hardwired or with an optional power cord kit (HCK44; sold separately).
  • For ADA Compliance: This unit can be installed for ADA compliance with the purchase of model HAWRK5 low voltage wiring and wall switch kit.

4.2 EZ1 Installation Steps

  1. Prepare the Cabinet: Mark the mounting locations under your cabinet according to the provided template.
  2. Attach EZ1 Brackets: Secure the EZ1 brackets to the underside of your cabinet using the provided hardware. These brackets are designed to hold the hood in place during wiring and final securing.
  3. Mount the Hood: Lift the range hood and slide it onto the EZ1 brackets. The brackets will temporarily support the hood, allowing you to connect wiring and secure the unit with ease.
  4. Connect Electrical: Complete the electrical connections as per local codes.
  5. Secure the Hood: Fasten the hood permanently to the cabinet using additional screws through the designated mounting holes.
  6. Install Filters and Bulbs: Insert the high-efficiency micro filters and LED modules.

5. Operation
