4. Operating Instructions

Before First Use:

Before cooking food, it is recommended to 'season' your grill. Light a small amount of charcoal and allow it to burn for 30-60 minutes with the lid closed and vents open. This helps burn off any manufacturing residues.

Lighting the Charcoal:

  1. Prepare Charcoal: Place charcoal briquettes or lump charcoal into the charcoal tray (refer to Image PT04 in Section 2). Do not overfill.
  2. Use a Starter: Use a charcoal chimney starter or approved solid fire starters to ignite the charcoal. Never use flammable liquids.
  3. Wait for Ash: Allow the charcoal to burn until it is mostly covered with a light gray ash (approximately 15-20 minutes).
  4. Spread Charcoal: Carefully spread the hot charcoal evenly across the charcoal tray or arrange for direct/indirect cooking as desired.

Temperature Control:

The grill's temperature is controlled by adjusting the air vents on the lid and the bottom of the grill (refer to Image PT04 in Section 2).

  • Increase Heat: Open the vents wider to allow more oxygen flow, increasing the charcoal temperature.
  • Decrease Heat: Close the vents partially to restrict oxygen flow, lowering the charcoal temperature.
  • Monitor Temperature: Use the integrated thermometer on the lid to monitor the internal grill temperature.

Grilling Food:

  • Once the grill reaches the desired temperature, place food on the cooking grate.
  • Close the lid to retain heat and smoke, which enhances flavor and cooks food more evenly.
  • Use the side tables for food preparation and holding cooked items.

5. Maintenance

Cleaning the Grill:

Regular cleaning will extend the life of your grill and ensure optimal performance.

  • Cooking Grates: After each use, once the grates have cooled, brush off any food residue with a grill brush. For deeper cleaning, wash with warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
  • Ash Catcher: The detachable ash catcher (refer to Image PT02) should be emptied after each use, once ashes are completely cool.

  • Grill Bowl and Lid: Wipe down the interior and exterior surfaces with a damp cloth. For stubborn grease, use a mild detergent. Avoid abrasive cleaners that can damage the finish.
  • Side Tables: Wipe clean with a damp cloth.

Storage:

When not in use, store the grill in a dry, protected area. If storing outdoors, use a weather-resistant grill cover to protect it from the elements.
