3. Setup Guide
Follow these steps to set up your FLYINGVOICE G508 ATA:
- Connect Power: Connect the provided DC 12V/2A power adapter to the 'DC 12V/2A' port on the rear of the G508 and plug it into a power outlet.
- Connect to Network:
- Connect an Ethernet cable from your router or modem to the 'WAN' port (blue) on the G508.
- Optionally, connect another Ethernet cable from the 'LAN' port (yellow) to a computer or other network device if needed.
- Connect Analog Devices: Plug your analog telephones, fax machines, or other RJ11 devices into any of the 'PHONE1' through 'PHONE8' FXS ports on the rear of the G508.
- Power On: Press the power button on the front of the device. The power indicator light should illuminate.
- Configure SIP Accounts: Access the device's web-based management interface (refer to the separate configuration guide for detailed instructions) to set up your 8 SIP lines with your VoIP service provider's credentials.

4. Operating Instructions
Once the G508 is set up and configured, operating your analog devices through the VoIP network is straightforward:
- Making Calls: Simply pick up your connected analog phone and dial as you normally would. The G508 will route the call through your configured VoIP service.
- Receiving Calls: Incoming calls will ring on the connected analog phone(s).
- Faxing: For fax machines connected to the FXS ports, send and receive faxes as usual. The G508's support for T.38 and T.30 protocols ensures reliable fax transmission over IP.
- Indicator Lights: Monitor the LED indicators on the top of the device for status information. Each 'PHONE' light corresponds to an FXS port and indicates its status (e.g., active call, registered). The 'Power' light indicates the device is on.

5. Maintenance
To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your G508 ATA, consider the following maintenance tips:
- Placement: Place the device in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and moisture.
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the device. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
- Firmware Updates: Periodically check the FLYINGVOICE official website for firmware updates. Keeping the firmware updated can improve performance, add new features, and enhance security.
- Power Cycle: If the device experiences minor issues, try power cycling it by unplugging the power adapter for 10 seconds and then plugging it back in.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your G508 ATA, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No dial tone on analog phone. | Phone not properly connected, G508 not powered, SIP account not registered. | Check phone cable connection. Ensure G508 power light is on. Verify SIP account registration status via web interface. |
| Cannot make/receive calls. | No internet connection, incorrect SIP configuration, firewall issues. | Check WAN light on G508 and router. Re-verify SIP account settings. Ensure necessary ports are open on your network firewall. |
| Poor voice quality (echo, static). | Network congestion, incorrect codec settings, faulty phone cable. | Check network bandwidth. Adjust voice codec settings in the web interface. Try a different phone cable. |
| Fax transmission failures. | T.38 not enabled, network latency, fax machine settings. | Ensure T.38 is enabled in G508 settings. Reduce fax transmission speed on the fax machine. |
