2. Assembling the NS55P Parabolic Softbox
The NS55P softbox features a quick-release design for easy assembly. Follow these steps:

3. Mounting the Flash Unit and Softbox
The Q4 flash unit and NS55P softbox both feature a Bowens mount for compatibility with various light stands and accessories. Securely attach the flash unit to a sturdy light stand. Then, attach the assembled softbox to the front of the Q4 flash unit using the Bowens mount.

Operating Instructions
Flash Modes
The NEEWER Q4 supports three primary flash modes:
- TTL (Through-The-Lens): Automatic flash mode compatible with Canon E-TTL II, Nikon i-TTL, and Sony TTL systems. This mode provides accurate exposure automatically and supports Flash Exposure Compensation.
- Manual (M): Allows manual control over flash power output, modeling light, and first/second curtain sync.
- Multi (Stroboscopic): Controls the stroboscopic rate, allowing up to 100 flashes at 199 Hz for capturing multiple exposures in a single frame.

High Speed Sync (HSS)
The Q4 supports 1/8000s High Speed Sync, allowing you to synchronize the flash with fast shutter speeds. This is particularly useful for overpowering ambient light in bright outdoor environments.

Wireless Control with NEEWER 2.4G Q System
The Q4 features a built-in NEEWER 2.4G Q System, allowing it to receive signals from a master trigger (e.g., QPRO-C/N/S Wireless Flash Trigger, not included) for effortless wireless multiple flash shooting. It supports 5 groups (A, B, C, D, E) and 32 channels (1-32), with IDs from 01-99.

Custom Settings (C.Fn) and Firmware Upgrades
The Q4 supports C.Fn custom settings for personalized operation. It also supports USB Type-C firmware upgrades to ensure your unit is always up-to-date with the latest features and improvements.
Important: Disable Single Contact Mode for TTL and High Speed Sync functionality. Single Contact Mode only emits a flash signal and does not support other functions. It is primarily for M/Multi mode continuous shooting.

Modeling Lamp
The Q4 features a 30W/5600K/CRI95+ LED modeling lamp to assist with focusing and previewing lighting effects.
Flash Duration and Recycling Time
The flash offers a duration of 1/209-1/10989s, allowing for freezing fast-moving subjects. The recycling time is between 0.01-1.2 seconds, enabling rapid continuous shooting.

Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the flash unit and softbox. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: When not in use, store the Q4 flash and softbox in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Ensure the battery is partially charged (around 50%) for long-term storage.
- Battery Care: Do not overcharge or completely discharge the lithium battery. If storing for extended periods, charge the battery every 3-6 months to maintain its health.
- Flash Tube: Handle the flash tube with care. Ensure it is properly plugged in before operating the flash to prevent damage.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Flash not firing | Battery low or uncharged; Flash tube not properly installed; Trigger not connected or faulty; Flash in sleep mode. | Charge battery; Ensure flash tube is securely plugged in; Check trigger connection and settings; Press any button to wake up the flash. |
| Inconsistent exposure in TTL mode | Flash Exposure Compensation (FEC) set incorrectly; Subject too far/close; Ambient light too strong. | Adjust FEC; Reposition subject; Use HSS in bright conditions. |
| Softbox difficult to open/close | Rods not aligned or mechanism stiff. | Ensure all rods are aligned; Apply gentle, even pressure when opening/closing. |
| Flash overheating warning | Excessive continuous firing. | Allow the flash to cool down. Reduce firing frequency. |
