Package Contents

Before proceeding with setup, please ensure all components are present:

Setup

1. Unpacking

Carefully remove the speaker from its packaging. Retain all packaging materials for future transport or storage.

2. Placement

Optimal speaker placement is crucial for sound quality. Position the Q11 Meta speakers equidistant from your primary listening position, forming an equilateral triangle. Keep them away from corners and walls to minimize bass resonance, typically at least 1-2 feet (30-60 cm) from the rear wall and side walls. Experiment with toe-in (angling the speakers towards the listening position) to achieve the best stereo imaging.

3. Connections

The KEF Q11 Meta speakers connect to your amplifier using speaker wire. Ensure your amplifier is turned off before making any connections.

  1. Identify the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals on both your amplifier and the Q11 Meta speaker. The speaker terminals are located on the rear panel.
  2. Connect the positive (+) terminal of the amplifier to the positive (+) terminal of the speaker using one conductor of the speaker wire.
  3. Connect the negative (-) terminal of the amplifier to the negative (-) terminal of the speaker using the other conductor of the speaker wire.
  4. Ensure all connections are secure and there are no stray wire strands that could cause a short circuit.

This image shows the rear panel of the KEF Q11 Meta speaker, highlighting the gold-plated positive (red) and negative (black) binding posts for speaker wire connections. Proper polarity is essential for correct sound reproduction.

For bi-wiring or bi-amping configurations, consult your amplifier's manual and KEF's advanced setup guides available on their official website. The Q11 Meta supports these advanced connection methods.

Operating Instructions

1. Initial Power On

After connecting the speakers to your amplifier, turn on your amplifier and audio source. Start with the volume at its lowest setting and gradually increase it to a comfortable listening level.

2. Break-in Period

Like many high-fidelity speakers, the KEF Q11 Meta benefits from a break-in period. During the first 50-100 hours of use, the drivers will loosen and settle, leading to improved sound performance, particularly in bass response and overall clarity. Play a variety of music at moderate volumes during this period.

3. Sound Optimization

The Q11 Meta features KEF's advanced acoustic technologies for optimal sound. The Uni-Q driver array ensures sound emanates from a single point, providing a wide and coherent soundstage. The Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT™) absorbs 99% of unwanted sound from the rear of the tweeter, resulting in purer, more natural sound reproduction.

For best results, ensure your audio source provides high-quality signals. The Q11 Meta is designed to reveal the nuances of your recordings.
