3. Setup and Installation
The BEL6 fan is engineered for versatile roomside installation. While designed to minimize the need for attic access and drywall cutting, some existing structural conditions may require additional modifications or attic access for proper securement.
Tools and Materials Required:
- Screwdriver (Phillips and Flathead)
- Wire Strippers
- Drill
- Utility Knife or Drywall Saw
- Measuring Tape
- Safety Glasses and Gloves
- Duct Tape (for sealing duct connections)
- 4-inch diameter ducting (if not already present)
Installation Steps:
- Prepare the Area: Turn off power at the circuit breaker. Locate the desired installation area in the ceiling. The fan requires a rough opening of approximately 7.5"D x 7.25"W x 5.75"H. Ensure there is adequate space above the ceiling for the fan housing and ductwork.
- Cut the Ceiling Opening: Using the provided template or the fan housing dimensions, carefully mark and cut the opening in the ceiling.
- Connect Ductwork: Attach a 4-inch diameter duct to the fan's exhaust collar. Secure with duct tape to ensure an airtight seal. Route the duct to an exterior vent cap.
- Mount the Fan Housing: The fan features foldable mounting ears for easy installation. Insert the fan housing into the ceiling opening. Secure the housing to the ceiling joists or framing using appropriate fasteners. For roomside installation, the mounting ears can be adjusted and secured from below.
- Electrical Connection: Connect the household wiring to the fan's wiring according to the wiring diagram provided in the full installation guide (not included here). Ensure all connections are secure and comply with local electrical codes. The fan operates on 120 Volts.
- Install the Grille: The CleanCover grille utilizes SlideClip™ technology for easy, springless attachment. Align the grille with the fan housing and push it firmly until it clips into place.
