4.2 Formatting the SSD

The SSD comes pre-formatted, but you may choose to reformat it for specific operating systems or file systems (e.g., NTFS for Windows, HFS+ or APFS for macOS, ext4 for Linux). Formatting will erase all data on the drive.

6. Troubleshooting

  • SSD Not Detected:
    • Try connecting to a different USB port on your device.
    • Ensure the cable is securely connected at both ends.
    • Test with a different compatible USB cable if available.
    • Restart your computer or device.
    • Check 'Disk Management' (Windows) or 'Disk Utility' (macOS) to see if the drive is recognized but uninitialized or unformatted.
  • Slow Transfer Speeds:
    • Ensure you are using a USB 3.0, USB 3.1, or USB 3.2 port on your host device for optimal speeds. Older USB 2.0 ports will result in significantly slower transfers.
    • Verify that your device's drivers are up to date.
    • Avoid transferring many small files simultaneously, as this can reduce overall speed compared to large single files.
  • Data Corruption:
    • Always safely eject the SSD before disconnecting.
    • Run a disk check utility on your operating system to scan and repair errors.
