1. Product Overview

3. Setup Guide

3.1 Battery Installation

1. Align the 2600mAh Lithium Ion battery with the battery compartment on the back of the radio.
2. Slide the battery upwards until it clicks securely into place.
3. To remove, press the release latch (if present, typically at the bottom of the battery) and slide the battery downwards.

3.2 Antenna Attachment

1. Screw the desired antenna (High Gain or Foldable Tactical Antenna) clockwise onto the antenna connector at the top of the radio until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.

3.3 Charging the Battery

The UV-K61 offers multiple convenient charging methods:

• Using the Charger Dock: Place the radio with the battery installed into the charger dock. Connect the charger dock to a power outlet using the provided US base charger.
• Using USB-C Cable: Connect the USB-C charger cable directly to the USB-C port on the side of the radio. This allows charging from a power bank, car charger, laptop, or any standard USB power adapter.

The LED indicator on the radio or charger dock will show the charging status:

• Red: Charging
• Green: Fully Charged

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Power On/Off and Volume Control

Rotate the Volume & Power knob located at the top of the radio clockwise to turn the radio on and increase volume. Rotate counter-clockwise to decrease volume and turn the radio off.

4.2 Display and Navigation

The UV-K61 features a 1.44" LCD screen with dual display capability, providing clear visibility for day and night use. Use the keypad and navigation buttons (e.g., Menu, Exit, Sweep, A/B Select) to navigate through menus and settings.

4.3 Wireless Frequency Copying (One Key Match Frequency)

This feature allows for quick and easy frequency matching with other radios:

1. Step 1: Turn on your UV-K61 radio. Press and hold the V/M button. The screen will display "SEARCH".
2. Step 2: Press and hold the transmit button (PTT) on the other radio you wish to copy the frequency from. Your UV-K61 will search for and display the frequency and decode information. Once finished, press MENU to confirm.
3. Step 3: Switch to channel mode to select the channel. The screen will now show the frequency of the counterpart, allowing you to communicate.

4.4 NOAA Weather Channels

The UV-K61 includes a built-in NOAA receiver with 10 channels to provide real-time weather alerts. To access NOAA weather channels, navigate through the radio's menu to the NOAA function. This feature helps you stay informed about severe weather conditions.

4.5 Additional Functions

• VOX Function: Voice-operated transmit allows hands-free operation. Refer to the radio's on-screen menu for activation and sensitivity settings.
• Flashlight: The radio is equipped with a built-in flashlight for convenience in low-light conditions. Activate it via the dedicated button or menu option.
• AM/FM Radio: The UV-K61 supports AM/FM radio reception. Tune into your favorite stations for entertainment or information.

5. Maintenance
