The Leica D-Lux 8 is a high-quality digital camera featuring a 17MP Four Thirds CMOS Sensor, capable of delivering high-quality images and 4K video. 2. Setup
2.1 Unpacking the Camera
Carefully unpack all items from the box. The standard package includes:
- Leica D-Lux 8 Camera Body
- External Flash Unit
Please note that batteries are not included with the camera and must be purchased separately. The camera uses a Lithium Ion battery type.
2.2 Inserting the Battery
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the bottom of the camera.
- Open the cover by sliding the latch.
- Insert a fully charged Lithium Ion battery into the compartment, ensuring correct orientation according to the diagram inside the compartment.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely until it clicks into place.
The camera requires a USB-C cord (not provided) for charging the battery.
2.3 Inserting a Memory Card
The Leica D-Lux 8 supports SDXC flash memory cards. For optimal performance, use cards with a write speed of 30MB/s or higher, Class 3+, UHS Speed Class 3 (U3), or Video Speed Class V30.
- Locate the memory card slot, typically on the side or bottom of the camera.
- Open the memory card slot cover.
- Insert the SDXC card with the label facing the correct direction until it clicks into place.
- Close the memory card slot cover securely.

3. Operating the Camera
3.1 Powering On/Off
Press the power button located on the top of the camera to turn it on or off.
3.2 Basic Controls and Display
The camera features a 3.0" 1.84m-dot TFT LCD display and a 2.36MP OLED electronic viewfinder. An automatic eye sensor allows for seamless switching between the LCD and EVF.

3.3 Shooting Modes
