Setup

Connectivity Options

The EvoFox Ronin keyboard supports three connection modes:

  1. Wired Mode:
    Connect the provided USB Type-C cable to the keyboard's Type-C port and the other end to an available USB port on your computer. The keyboard will automatically be detected and ready for use. This mode offers the lowest latency (<1ms).
  2. 2.4GHz Wireless Mode:
    Locate the 2.4GHz USB receiver (dongle) in the magnetic compartment on the back of the keyboard. Plug the receiver into an available USB port on your computer. Turn on the keyboard using the switch located on the side. The keyboard should connect automatically. This mode offers ultra-low latency (<20ms).
  3. Bluetooth Mode:
    Turn on the keyboard. Press and hold the Fn key + 1, 2, or 3 (for Bluetooth profiles) until the indicator light flashes rapidly, indicating pairing mode. On your device (laptop, PC, tablet, smartphone), search for Bluetooth devices and select "EvoFox Ronin" to pair. The keyboard can store up to 3 Bluetooth profiles, allowing quick switching between devices. This mode offers low latency (<70ms).

Software Installation (Windows)

For advanced customization, including key remapping, macro creation, and detailed RGB control, download the EvoFox Ronin software from the official EvoFox website. Ensure your keyboard is connected via wired mode during software setup for optimal recognition. The keyboard features on-board memory, so your custom settings will be saved directly to the keyboard.

Operating Instructions

Basic Key Functions

The EvoFox Ronin keyboard utilizes an Fn (Function) key for accessing secondary functions printed on the keycaps. Common combinations include:

  • Fn + F1-F12: Access multimedia controls (play/pause, volume, track skip) or system functions (e.g., brightness, search). Refer to the specific icons on your keycaps.
  • Fn + Backlight Key: Cycle through different RGB lighting effects.
  • Fn + Arrow Keys: Adjust backlight brightness or speed of effects.
  • Fn + Win: Lock/unlock the Windows key to prevent accidental presses during gaming.

RGB Lighting Control

The keyboard features per-key RGB backlighting with 21 pre-set effects and an Audio Sync Mode. Use the dedicated backlight key (often located near the arrow keys or as an Fn combination) to cycle through effects. Adjust brightness and speed using Fn key combinations as indicated on the keycaps. Fine-tune colors and create custom profiles using the Windows software.

Volume Knob

The dedicated volume knob located on the top right of the keyboard allows for quick and intuitive audio control. Rotate the knob to adjust volume up or down. Pressing the knob typically mutes or unmutes the audio.

Maintenance

Cleaning

To maintain optimal performance and appearance, regularly clean your keyboard:

  • Disconnect the keyboard from your computer before cleaning.
  • Use a soft brush or compressed air to remove dust and debris from between the keycaps.
  • For keycap cleaning, gently remove them using the provided keycap puller. Clean keycaps with a mild soap solution and a soft cloth, then ensure they are completely dry before reattaching.

Switch and Keycap Replacement

The EvoFox Ronin features hot-swappable switches, allowing for easy replacement without soldering. Use the provided switch puller to carefully remove switches. Align new switches with the pins and press firmly until they click into place. Ensure the keyboard is disconnected during this process.

Troubleshooting

Battery life is shortReduce RGB brightness or turn off lighting when not needed. Ensure the keyboard is fully charged. The keyboard has a built-in battery-saving feature that activates after a few minutes of inactivity.
