Operating Instructions
Your LEADZM grill offers versatile cooking options:
1. Grilling (BBQ Mode)
- Prepare Charcoal: Place charcoal briquettes or lump charcoal into the charcoal pan.
- Light Charcoal: Use a charcoal chimney starter or solid fire starters to ignite the charcoal. Do not use flammable liquids.
- Preheat: Once charcoal is glowing, spread it evenly. Place one or two cooking grates directly above the charcoal. Close the lid and allow the grill to preheat for 10-15 minutes.
- Adjust Temperature: Use the adjustable air vent on the lid and the access door to control airflow and temperature. More airflow increases temperature, less airflow reduces it. Monitor the built-in thermometer.
- Cook Food: Place food on the cooking grates. Turn food as needed for even cooking.

Figure 3: Grilling various foods. This image demonstrates the grill's capacity for direct grilling of items like vegetables, fish, and meat skewers.
2. Smoking (Vertical Smoker Mode)
- Assemble Smoker: Ensure both the lower and upper grill sections are stacked. Place the charcoal pan with lit charcoal in the bottom.
- Add Wood Chips: For smoke flavor, add pre-soaked wood chips (e.g., hickory, apple, mesquite) directly onto the hot charcoal or in a separate smoker box.
- Water Pan (Optional): A water pan can be placed on the lower grate to add moisture and stabilize temperature.
- Load Food: Place food on the upper cooking grates. For smoking, food is typically placed further from the heat source.
- Control Temperature: Close the lid and use the air vent and access door to maintain a consistent low temperature (typically 225-275°F or 107-135°C) for smoking. The built-in thermometer helps monitor this.
- Monitor: Avoid opening the lid frequently, as this releases heat and smoke. Use the access door to add more charcoal or wood chips if needed.

Figure 5: Versatile configurations. This composite image shows the grill functioning as a convenient fire pit, a spacious BBQ grill, a two-tier barbecue, and a complete vertical smoker.
3. Stewing/Boiling (Pot Cooking Mode)
While primarily a grill and smoker, the charcoal bowl can also be used as a heat source for pot cooking. Place a heat-safe pot directly on a grate above the charcoal for stewing or boiling.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning and maintenance will extend the life of your grill:
- After Each Use:
- Allow the grill to cool completely.
- Remove cooking grates and clean them with a grill brush and warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
- Empty the ash tray and charcoal pan. Dispose of cooled ashes properly.

- Deep Cleaning (Periodically):

- Clean all components with warm soapy water and a non-abrasive scrubber.
- Rinse thoroughly and ensure all parts are completely dry before reassembly or storage.
- Storage: Store the grill in a dry, covered area when not in use to protect it from weather elements.

| Food not cooking evenly | Uneven charcoal distribution; grill not preheated; food crowded. | Distribute charcoal evenly. Preheat grill thoroughly. Avoid overcrowding the grates. |
| Excessive smoke (undesired) | Too many wood chips; improper charcoal type. | Reduce the amount of wood chips. Ensure charcoal is fully lit before adding food. |
