5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Basic Operation

  • Power On/Off: The device powers on/off automatically with the vehicle's ignition. You can also manually power on/off by pressing and holding the power button.
  • Recording: Recording starts automatically when the device is powered on. A red indicator light or icon on the screen typically indicates active recording.
  • Screen On/Off: Tap the screen to turn the display on or off while recording. The dash cam continues to record even with the screen off.

5.5. Parking Monitoring

The PG17 offers two parking monitoring modes:

  • Collision Detection (G-Sensor): When the vehicle is parked, the G-sensor detects impacts and automatically records a short, locked video.
  • Time-Lapse Recording: Records continuously at a low frame rate (e.g., 1fps) to save storage space while providing 24-hour surveillance. Note: This feature requires a separate hardwire kit (ASIN: B0BHN8SS4D) for continuous power.

Image: An illustration explaining the 24-hour parking mode, depicting both collision detection (G-sensor activated recording upon impact) and time-lapse parking mode (continuous recording at 1fps). It notes that a 3-lead hardwire kit is required for this feature.

5.6. Loop Recording

The dash cam records video in segments (1, 3, or 5 minutes). When the MicroSD card is full, the oldest unlocked files are automatically overwritten to ensure continuous recording. Files locked by the G-sensor or manual locking are protected from overwriting.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the dash cam screen and lens. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • MicroSD Card Formatting: It is recommended to format the MicroSD card regularly (e.g., once a month) within the dash cam's settings to maintain optimal performance and prevent data corruption. Back up any important files before formatting.
  • Firmware Updates: Check the AZDOME official website for any available firmware updates. Updating firmware can improve performance and add new features. Follow the instructions provided with the firmware update carefully.
  • Temperature: Avoid exposing the dash cam to extreme temperatures for prolonged periods, as this can affect battery life and component integrity.
