5. Maintenance
To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your Archer BE700 router, consider the following maintenance tips:
- Placement: Place the router in a central location, away from obstructions, large metal objects, and sources of interference (e.g., microwaves, cordless phones).
- Ventilation: Ensure the router is placed in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating. Do not cover ventilation openings.
- Cleaning: Regularly clean the router's exterior with a soft, dry cloth to prevent dust buildup. Avoid using liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
- Firmware Updates: Periodically check for and install firmware updates through the Tether app or the router's web interface. Updates often include performance improvements and security enhancements.
- Power Cycle: If you experience minor performance issues, try power cycling the router (unplugging it for 10-15 seconds and then plugging it back in).
6. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your Archer BE700 router.
6.1. General Performance Considerations
Maximum wireless signal rates are physical rates derived from IEEE Standard 802.11 specifications. Actual wireless data throughput, wireless coverage, and connected devices are not guaranteed and will vary due to internet service provider factors, network conditions, client limitations, and environmental factors, including building materials, obstacles, volume and density of traffic, and client location. Actual network speed may also be limited by the rate of the product's Ethernet WAN or LAN port, the rate supported by the network cable, and other environmental conditions.
6.2. Common Issues and Solutions
- No Internet Connection:
- Ensure your modem is working correctly and its indicator lights are stable.
- Check all Ethernet cable connections between the modem and the router's WAN port.
- Power cycle both your modem and router.
- Slow Wi-Fi Speeds:
- Verify your internet service plan supports the speeds you expect.
- Ensure your client devices (laptops, phones) support Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) and its features (MLO, 320 MHz, 4K-QAM, Multi-RUs) to fully utilize the router's capabilities.
- Reduce interference by moving the router away from other electronic devices.
- Consider adding an EasyMesh-compatible extender if you have a large home or dead zones.
- Devices Not Connecting to Specific Bands (2.4GHz, 5GHz, 6GHz):
- Some older devices may only support 2.4GHz.
- If using a single SSID for all bands (Smart Connect), the router automatically steers devices. If you prefer manual control, you can disable Smart Connect in the Tether app or web interface to create separate SSIDs for each band.
- Ensure your device's Wi-Fi adapter supports the 5GHz or 6GHz band.
- EasyMesh Connection Issues:
- Ensure all devices are EasyMesh-compatible. Firmware conflicts between different vendors may cause issues.
- The EasyMesh-compatible function is still being developed on some models and will be supported in subsequent software updates.
