4.1. Intel Installation (LGA 1851/1700/115x/1200/2011/2066)

  1. Prepare the CPU: Open the CPU socket retention arm, insert your Intel CPU, and close the retention arm.
  2. Attach Intel Brackets to Cooler: Secure the Intel mounting brackets to the base of the cooler using the provided screws. Ensure the brackets are oriented correctly.
  3. Apply Thermal Paste: Apply a small amount of thermal paste (pea-sized dot or thin line) to the center of the CPU's integrated heat spreader (IHS). Use the spreader to evenly distribute a thin layer across the surface.
  4. Position Cooler: Carefully place the CPU cooler onto the CPU, aligning the mounting screws on the cooler brackets with the holes on the motherboard.
  5. Secure Cooler: From the backside of the motherboard, attach the standoffs and then the nuts to secure the cooler. Tighten them in a diagonal pattern until snug. Do not overtighten.
  6. Connect Fan Cable: Connect the 4-pin PWM fan cable from the cooler to the CPU_FAN header on your motherboard.

4.2. AMD Installation (AM5/AM4/AM3)

  1. Prepare the CPU: Open the CPU socket retention arm, insert your AMD CPU, and close the retention arm.
  2. Remove Stock Brackets (if applicable): Remove the plastic retention clips from the stock AMD backplate on your motherboard. Keep the original backplate in place.
  3. Attach AMD Brackets to Cooler: Secure the AMD mounting brackets to the base of the cooler using the provided screws. Ensure the brackets are oriented correctly.
  4. Apply Thermal Paste: Apply a small amount of thermal paste (pea-sized dot or thin line) to the center of the CPU's integrated heat spreader (IHS). Use the spreader to evenly distribute a thin layer across the surface.
  5. Position Cooler: Carefully place the CPU cooler onto the CPU, aligning the mounting screws on the cooler brackets with the holes on the motherboard's backplate.
  6. Secure Cooler: From the backside of the motherboard, attach the standoffs and then the nuts to secure the cooler. Tighten them in a diagonal pattern until snug. Do not overtighten.
  7. Connect Fan Cable: Connect the 4-pin PWM fan cable from the cooler to the CPU_FAN header on your motherboard.

5. Operation

Once installed, the upHere H45K6 CPU Cooler operates automatically, with its PWM fan adjusting speed based on CPU temperature. For optimal performance:

  • Ensure adequate airflow within your PC case.
  • Monitor CPU temperatures using motherboard software or third-party utilities to confirm effective cooling, especially under heavy loads.
  • The 90mm PWM fan is designed for quiet operation (≤27 dB(A) Max) while providing sufficient airflow (35.34 CFM).

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance helps prolong the life and efficiency of your CPU cooler:

  • Dust Removal: Periodically clean dust from the heatsink fins and fan blades using compressed air or a soft brush. Ensure the fan is not spinning during cleaning to prevent damage.
  • Thermal Paste: Reapply thermal paste if you remove the cooler from the CPU for any reason. Old thermal paste can lose effectiveness over time.
  • Fan Inspection: Check the fan for any unusual noises or wobbling, which may indicate wear or damage.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your CPU cooler, consider the following:

  • High CPU Temperatures:
    • Verify the cooler is securely mounted and making proper contact with the CPU.
    • Check if thermal paste was applied correctly and evenly.
    • Ensure the fan cable is properly connected to the CPU_FAN header and the fan is spinning.
    • Clean any dust buildup on the heatsink fins.
    • Confirm adequate case airflow and proper orientation of case fans.
  • Fan Not Spinning:
    • Check the fan cable connection to the motherboard.
    • Ensure the CPU_FAN header is enabled in your motherboard's BIOS/UEFI settings.
    • Test the fan with another fan header if available, or try a different fan to isolate the issue.
  • Excessive Fan Noise:
    • Check for any cables or obstructions hitting the fan blades.
    • Ensure the fan is securely mounted and not vibrating.
    • Adjust fan speed curves in your motherboard's BIOS/UEFI or fan control software.
