2. Safety Instructions

4.1 Front Panel

5. Setup

5.1 Placement

Place the Model 60n on a flat, stable surface with adequate ventilation. Avoid placing it near heat sources or in direct sunlight. Ensure there is at least 4 inches (10 cm) of space above and around the unit for proper airflow.

5.2 Connecting Speakers

Connect your passive speakers to the speaker terminals on the rear panel. Observe correct polarity (+ to + and - to -) for each speaker. The Model 60n supports speakers with an impedance of 4-16 ohms.

  1. Twist the speaker terminal knob counter-clockwise to loosen.
  2. Insert the bare wire or banana plug into the terminal.
  3. Twist the knob clockwise to tighten and secure the connection.

5.3 Connecting Audio Sources

  • CD Player/Analog Sources: Use RCA cables to connect your CD player or other analog devices to the CD, Line 1, or Line 2 inputs.
  • Turntable: Connect your turntable to the PHONO input. Ensure your turntable has a Moving Magnet (MM) cartridge. Connect the turntable's ground wire to the GND terminal on the amplifier.
  • Digital Sources: Use optical or coaxial digital cables to connect devices like a TV, Blu-ray player, or game console to the DIGITAL AUDIO IN (OPTICAL/COAXIAL) ports.
  • TV (HDMI ARC): Connect an HDMI cable from your TV's HDMI ARC port to the HDMI ARC port on the Model 60n. This allows audio from your TV to be sent to the amplifier.
  • Subwoofer: Connect an active subwoofer to the SUBWOOFER PRE-OUT using an RCA cable.

5.4 Network Connection

  • Wireless (Wi-Fi): Attach the two included Wi-Fi/Bluetooth antennas to the rear panel. The unit will guide you through Wi-Fi setup during initial configuration.
  • Wired (Ethernet): Connect an Ethernet cable from your router to the NETWORK port on the rear panel.

5.5 Power Connection

After all audio and network connections are made, connect the supplied power cord to the AC IN terminal on the rear panel and then to a wall outlet.

5.6 Initial Setup Wizard

Upon first power-on, the Model 60n will guide you through an initial setup process on its front display. Follow the on-screen instructions to configure network settings, language, and other basic preferences.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Basic Operation

  • Power On/Off: Press the power button () on the front panel or remote control.
  • Input Selection: Rotate the Input selector knob on the front panel or use the input buttons on the remote control to choose your desired audio source.
  • Volume Control: Rotate the Volume knob on the front panel or use the VOLUME +/- buttons on the remote control.
  • Tone Controls: Use the BASS, TREBLE, and BALANCE knobs to adjust the sound to your preference.
  • Source Direct: Press the SOURCE DIRECT button to bypass the tone control circuits for a more direct and uncolored sound. Press again to re-engage tone controls.
  • Headphone Use: Plug headphones into the front panel headphone jack. Speaker output will automatically mute.

6.2 Network Features and HEOS

The Model 60n features HEOS Built-in, allowing you to stream music from various online services, network-attached storage (NAS), and other HEOS-enabled devices. To utilize these features:

  1. Download the HEOS App on your smartphone or tablet (available on iOS App Store and Google Play Store).
  2. Ensure your Model 60n is connected to your home network (Wi-Fi or Ethernet).
  3. Follow the instructions in the HEOS App to add your Model 60n to your HEOS system.
  4. Once added, you can browse and play music from streaming services (e.g., Spotify, Tidal, Amazon Music), internet radio, or your local music library.

The HEOS app also allows for multi-room audio, enabling you to group multiple HEOS devices to play the same music simultaneously or different music in different rooms.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Disconnect the power cord before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
  • Ventilation: Regularly check that the ventilation openings are not blocked by dust or debris.
  • Power Cord: Inspect the power cord periodically for any damage.
