Operating Instructions

Brewing Coffee

  1. Add Water: Fill the urn with cold, fresh water up to the desired level, using the internal scale or external water level indicator as a guide. Do not overfill or underfill.
  2. Add Coffee Grounds: Place the reusable stainless steel filter basket into the urn. Add the appropriate amount of coarse-ground coffee to the filter basket. For best results, follow coffee-to-water ratios recommended by your coffee brand or personal preference.
  3. Secure Lid: Place the lid securely on the urn.
  4. Start Brewing: Turn the power switch to the 'ON' position. The 'Heating' indicator light will illuminate. The urn will begin to heat the water and percolate the coffee.
  5. Brewing Completion: Brewing typically takes approximately 60 minutes for 100 cups. The 'Heating' light will turn off, and the 'Ready/Keep Warm' light will illuminate when brewing is complete and the coffee is ready to serve.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance will extend the life of your coffee urn and ensure optimal performance.

  1. Daily Cleaning: After each use, ensure the urn is unplugged and has cooled down. Remove the lid and filter basket. Discard used coffee grounds. Wash the filter basket, lid, and interior of the urn with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely.
  2. Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the urn with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as these can damage the stainless steel finish.
  3. Spigot Cleaning: Periodically clean the spigot by running warm, soapy water through it. For thorough cleaning, the silicone faucet can be removed and cleaned separately.
  4. Descaling: Mineral deposits from water can build up over time, affecting performance. Descale the urn every 1-3 months, depending on water hardness and frequency of use. Fill the urn with a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water. Turn on the urn and allow it to heat for 30 minutes (do not brew coffee). Turn off, unplug, and let it sit for another 30 minutes. Drain the solution and rinse the urn thoroughly several times with fresh water to remove any vinegar residue.
  5. Storage: Ensure the urn is clean and completely dry before storing. Store in a cool, dry place.
