6. Operation

The electric pruning shears offer two primary modes of operation: handheld and with the extension pole.

6.1 Handheld Operation:

  1. Ensure a charged battery is securely installed in the shears.
  2. Switch the motor ON (if applicable, refer to specific switch location on your unit).
  3. To activate the shears, pull the trigger 3 times in a row. The blades will open.
  4. Adjust the cutting opening size (15mm, 35mm, or 50mm) by pressing the designated button. Use 15mm for small branches, 35mm for general pruning, and 50mm for maximum diameter cuts.
  5. Position the branch between the open blades and pull the trigger to make a cut.
  6. To turn off the shears, press and hold the trigger for 5 seconds.

6.2 Operation with Extension Pole:

  1. Ensure the shears are securely connected to the extension pole and a charged battery is installed in the pole's handle.
  2. Turn on the pruning shears (this may involve a switch on the shears head or a button on the pole, depending on the model).
  3. Continuously pull the trigger on the extension rod to activate the machine and begin pruning. The cutting size may be pre-set or adjustable via a button on the shears head.
  4. Maintain a stable stance and control the pole carefully, especially when cutting overhead.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your electric pruning shears.

  • Cleaning: After each use, disconnect the battery and clean the blades and cutting mechanism. Remove sap, debris, and dirt using a brush and a damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals.
  • Lubrication: Apply a small amount of machine oil to the blades and pivot points periodically to ensure smooth operation and prevent rust.
  • Blade Sharpening: The SK7 carbon steel blades are designed for durability. If cutting performance decreases, the blades may need sharpening. Use a fine-grit sharpening stone at the original blade angle.
  • Blade Replacement: A replacement blade is included in your kit. Refer to the disassembly tools provided for instructions on how to safely replace the blade. Always ensure the battery is removed before attempting blade replacement.
  • Storage: Store the pruning shears and batteries in a clean, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Ensure batteries are partially charged (around 50%) for long-term storage.
