Installation Guide
This dog door is designed for a no-cut installation. Follow these steps carefully:
- Assemble the Panels: Connect the Top Frame, Middle Panel, Middle Longer Height Extension Panel, and Bottom Frame using the Joining Rods and Side Aluminum Parts as indicated in the diagram. Ensure all connections are secure. There are two mounting methods for connecting components, choose the one that best suits your needs.
- Prepare for Insertion: Ensure the spring mechanism at the top of the dog door panel is fully compressed.
- Insert into Upper Track: Carefully insert the top of the assembled dog door panel into the upper track of your sliding glass door frame, pushing up against the spring mechanism.
- Align and Insert into Lower Track: While holding the top in place, swing the bottom of the panel into alignment with the lower track. Once aligned, release the spring mechanism and gently lower the panel until it sits firmly in the lower track.
- Secure the Installation: Apply the foam strip to seal any gaps between the dog door and your sliding glass door for improved insulation. Use the provided "L" Mount Brackets, "T" Mount Brackets, and screws to further secure the dog door to your door frame if desired. Some reinforcement accessories may require drilling.
- Install Toggle Lock: Attach the toggle lock to your sliding glass door and the dog door frame to provide additional security, preventing the sliding door from being opened from the outside.

- Flap Inspection: Periodically check the pet flap for any tears, cracks, or stiffness. Ensure the magnetic strips are clean and free of debris to maintain a good seal.
- Track Cleaning: Keep the sliding glass door tracks clean and free of dirt, pet hair, or other obstructions that could impede the smooth operation of the door.
- Hardware Check: Regularly inspect all screws, brackets, and the toggle lock to ensure they are tight and secure. Tighten any loose fasteners.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Elevon Dog Door, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- Door Does Not Fit:
- Issue: The dog door is too tall or too short for your sliding glass door frame.
- Solution: Re-measure your door frame height from the inside of the upper track to the inside of the lower track. Ensure it falls within the 83"-91" range. If it does not, this model is not compatible with your door.
- Gaps Around the Door:
- Issue: Drafts or insects are entering around the installed dog door.
- Solution: Ensure the foam strip is properly installed and sealed between the dog door and your sliding glass door. Check that the dog door is fully seated in both the upper and lower tracks.
- Flap Not Closing Properly:
- Issue: The pet flap does not swing freely or close completely.
- Solution: Check for any debris or obstructions in the flap's path or on the magnetic strips. Clean the flap and magnets. Ensure the door frame is plumb and level, as misalignment can affect flap operation.
- Sliding Door Does Not Lock:
- Issue: Your main sliding glass door cannot be locked after installing the pet door.
- Solution: Ensure the toggle lock is correctly installed and engaged between your sliding glass door and the pet door frame. This lock is designed to secure the sliding door in place.
