Setup

1. Battery Installation

  1. Remote Sensors: Open the battery compartment of each remote sensor. Insert 2 AAA batteries (not included) into each sensor, ensuring correct polarity. Set the channel switch (1, 2, or 3) for each sensor. It is recommended to assign a unique channel to each sensor.
  2. Main Display Unit: Open the battery compartment on the back of the main unit. Insert 2 AA batteries (not included), ensuring correct polarity. The unit will power on and begin searching for sensor signals.

Important: Always install batteries in the remote sensors before installing batteries in the main display unit to ensure proper synchronization.

2. Sensor Pairing

After battery installation, the main unit will automatically attempt to connect with the remote sensors. Ensure sensors are within range (up to 200ft in an open area). If a sensor does not connect, press the 'CHANNEL' button on the main unit to manually search for signals, or re-insert batteries in the sensor.

3. Atomic Clock Synchronization

The weather station will attempt to synchronize its time with the WWVB atomic clock signal. This process may take several minutes or hours, depending on your location and environmental conditions. Place the main unit near a window for optimal signal reception. Manual time setting is available if atomic synchronization is not successful.

4. Placement Recommendations

  • Main Unit: Place the main unit indoors, away from direct sunlight and heat sources, for accurate indoor readings.
  • Remote Sensors: Position remote sensors in desired outdoor or indoor locations (e.g., garden, greenhouse, basement, garage). Ensure they are protected from direct rain and extreme weather. The maximum transmission range is approximately 200 feet (60 meters) in an open area. Walls and other obstructions may reduce this range.

Operating Instructions

1. Basic Display Functions

The main display unit provides a comprehensive overview of environmental data. Use the buttons on the unit to navigate through different modes and settings.

  • Temperature/Humidity Units: Press the “℃/℉” button to switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit.
  • Channel Selection: Press the “CHANNEL” button to cycle through the data from the three remote sensors (CH1, CH2, CH3) or to view all channels in rotation.

2. Setting Dual Alarms

The weather station features two independent alarms. Refer to the detailed instructions in the included manual for setting specific alarm times and activating the snooze function.

3. Custom Alerts for Temperature & Humidity

You can set custom high and low thresholds for temperature and humidity. When readings exceed or fall below these set points, the unit will trigger an alert. This feature is useful for monitoring conditions in sensitive areas like baby rooms, plant nurseries, or food storage.

4. DIY Labeling System

To easily identify which sensor corresponds to which location, the WF-60M allows for customizable labels. You can use the provided sticky notes or select from preset options to name each channel (e.g., Bedroom, Coop, Garage). These labels can be applied directly to the sensors or the base unit display.

5. Comfort Indicator

The comfort indicator provides a quick visual assessment of the indoor environment based on temperature and humidity levels. It typically displays three levels: comfortable, too dry, or too wet.

6. Weather Forecast

The 12-hour weather forecast is based on changes in barometric pressure. It provides an indication of upcoming weather trends (e.g., sunny, cloudy, rainy, snowy) but should not be considered a precise forecast. For detailed local forecasts, consult official weather services.

Maintenance

  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries in both the main unit and remote sensors when the low battery indicator appears. Note that replacing batteries in the main unit may reset some settings, requiring re-entry of custom preferences.
  • Cleaning: Clean the display unit and sensors with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Sensor Protection: While remote sensors are designed for outdoor use, protecting them from direct heavy rain and prolonged exposure to extreme conditions can extend their lifespan.

Troubleshooting

  • Sensors Not Connecting:
    • Ensure batteries are correctly installed in both the main unit and sensors, with sensor batteries installed first.
    • Verify each sensor is set to a unique channel (1, 2, or 3).
    • Move sensors closer to the main unit to check for range issues or interference.
    • Press the 'CHANNEL' button on the main unit to initiate a manual search for sensor signals.
  • Atomic Clock Not Syncing:
    • Place the main unit near a window, away from electronic devices that may cause interference.
    • Allow sufficient time (up to 24 hours) for the signal to be received.
    • Consider environmental factors such as solar activity or geographical location that may affect WWVB signal reception.
    • Set the time manually if automatic synchronization is consistently unsuccessful.
  • Inaccurate Readings:
    • Ensure sensors are not exposed to direct sunlight, heat sources, or extreme moisture, which can affect accuracy.
    • Compare readings with other reliable thermometers/hygrometers to verify discrepancies.
  • Settings Lost After Battery Change:
    • This is a known characteristic of the device. Re-enter all custom settings (time zone, alarms, custom labels, alerts) after replacing the main unit's batteries. Keep this manual handy for reference.
