4. Setup

4.1 Charging Station Placement

Place the charging station on a hard, level surface against a wall. Ensure there is at least 0.5 meters (1.6 feet) of clear space on both sides and 1.5 meters (4.9 feet) in front of the charging station for the robot to easily dock.

4.2 Initial Charging

Connect the power adapter to the charging station and plug it into a wall outlet. Place the robot onto the charging station. Ensure the charging contacts on the robot align with those on the station. The robot will begin charging automatically. Fully charge the robot before its first use, which may take several hours.

4.3 App Installation and Pairing

  1. Download the 'Smart Life' app from your smartphone's app store (Google Play Store or Apple App Store).
  2. Register or log in to your Smart Life account.
  3. Turn on the robot by pressing and holding the power button until the indicator lights up.
  4. In the app, tap '+' to add a device. Select 'Robot Vacuum' or search for the device.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the robot to your home Wi-Fi network.

4.4 Initial Home Mapping

After successful pairing, initiate a full cleaning cycle from the app. The robot will use its LiDAR 3.0 navigation to create a detailed map of your home. This process is crucial for efficient cleaning and allows for advanced features like zone cleaning and virtual walls. The initial mapping can be completed in approximately 5 minutes for areas up to 1000 sq. ft.

5.1 Cleaning Modes

The SmartClean Nuo offers multiple cleaning modes:

  • Quiet Mode: For light cleaning and extended runtime (up to 5 hours).
  • Standard Mode: Balanced cleaning for daily use.
  • Max Mode: Provides 5000Pa HyperSuction for deep cleaning of heavily soiled areas.

You can select these modes via the Smart Life app.

5.2 Wet Mopping

Attach the mopping pad with a damp mopping cloth to the robot. Fill the water tank (if applicable) according to the instructions. The 3S Mopping Technology allows for customizable mopping levels suitable for tiles, marble, and wooden floors. Avoid using the wet mopping function on carpets.

The Smart Life app provides comprehensive control over your robot:

5.4 Voice Control

5.5 Navigation and Obstacle Avoidance

The robot is equipped with advanced anti-collision and anti-drop sensors to navigate your home safely. It detects obstacles and changes in elevation to prevent damage and falls.

5.6 Auto-Docking and Resume

When the battery is low, the robot will automatically return to its charging station. After recharging, it will resume cleaning from where it left off, ensuring complete coverage.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your SmartClean Nuo.

6.1 Dustbin and Filter Cleaning

  • Empty the dustbin after each cleaning cycle.
  • Tap the HEPA filter to remove dust. Do not wash the HEPA filter with water.
  • The HEPA H13 Grade filter should be replaced every 3-6 months, depending on usage.

6.2 Main Brush and Side Brush Cleaning

  • Remove the main brush and use the provided cleaning tool to cut and remove tangled hair or debris.
  • Remove the side brushes and clean any hair or debris wrapped around them. Replace worn-out side brushes.

6.3 Sensor Cleaning

Wipe the anti-drop sensors, anti-collision sensors, and charging contacts with a clean, dry cloth regularly to ensure proper function.

6.4 Mopping Cloth Maintenance

Wash the mopping cloth after each use. It can be hand-washed or machine-washed. Ensure it is completely dry before reattaching.
