Setup and Operation

Charging the Device

The SafeFly Dot features a built-in rechargeable battery providing up to 25 hours of continuous music playback. To charge the device, connect the provided USB-C cable to the charging port on the SafeFly Dot and the other end to a USB power source (e.g., computer USB port, wall adapter). A full charge typically takes about 2 hours. The battery indicator lights on the device will show the charging progress and current battery level.

Transmitter (TX) Mode Setup

In Transmitter (TX) mode, the SafeFly Dot streams audio wirelessly from non-Bluetooth devices to your Bluetooth headphones or speakers.

  1. Switch to TX Mode: Slide the TX/OFF/RX switch to the 'TX' position. The TX LED will quickly flash red-blue, indicating it's in pairing mode.
  2. Connect to Audio Source: Plug the 3.5mm audio cable from the SafeFly Dot into the audio output jack of your non-Bluetooth device (e.g., TV, computer, airplane entertainment system, gym equipment). For airplane use, utilize the included two-prong adapter if necessary.
  3. Pair with Bluetooth Headphones/Speakers: Set your Bluetooth headphones or speakers to pairing mode. Place them close to the SafeFly Dot. The SafeFly Dot will automatically search for and connect to nearby Bluetooth devices. Once connected, the indicator light for the paired device (A or B) will turn solid blue.
  4. Dual Connection: To connect a second pair of Bluetooth headphones/speakers, ensure the first device is already connected. Put the second device into pairing mode. Press and hold the P/R (Pair/Reset) button on the SafeFly Dot for 2 seconds. The TX LED will flash red-blue again. Once the second device is connected, its indicator light will also turn solid blue.

Receiver (RX) Mode Setup

In Receiver (RX) mode, the SafeFly Dot allows your smartphone or tablet to connect wirelessly to wired headphones, speakers, or car/home stereo systems.

  1. Switch to RX Mode: Slide the TX/OFF/RX switch to the 'RX' position. The RX LED will quickly flash red-blue, indicating it's in pairing mode.
  2. Connect to Audio Output Device: Plug the 3.5mm audio cable from the SafeFly Dot into the audio input jack of your wired headphones, speakers, car stereo, or home stereo.
  3. Pair with Smartphone/Tablet: On your smartphone or tablet, go to Bluetooth settings and search for 'SafeFly Dot'. Select it to connect. Once connected, the indicator light for the paired device (A or B) will turn solid blue.
  4. Dual Connection: To connect a second smartphone or tablet, ensure the first device is already connected. Put the second device into Bluetooth pairing mode. Press and hold the P/R (Pair/Reset) button on the SafeFly Dot for 2 seconds. The RX LED will flash red-blue again. Once the second device is connected, its indicator light will also turn solid blue.

General Operating Instructions

  • Mode Switching: The TX/OFF/RX switch on the side of the device allows you to easily switch between Transmitter (TX) mode, Receiver (RX) mode, or power off the device.
  • Pairing/Reset Button (P/R): Press and hold the P/R button for 2 seconds to enter pairing mode for a new device or to pair a second device. A quick press can also reset the connection.
  • Volume Control: Use the '+' button to increase volume and the '-' button to decrease volume. These buttons also function as next/previous track controls when briefly pressed.
  • Multi-function Button (M): The 'M' button can be used for various functions depending on the mode, such as play/pause or answering/ending calls.
  • Built-in Microphone: In RX mode, the built-in microphone enables hands-free calling. Note that phone calls are only supported in RX mode, not in TX mode.
  • Indicator Panel: The indicator panel provides visual feedback on the device's status:
    • TX/RX LEDs: Indicate the current operating mode.
    • A/B LEDs: Show which paired device (first or second) is active.
    • APTX/LL/HD/AD/AAC/SBC LEDs: Indicate the active audio codec.
    • Battery Indicator: Displays the current battery level.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your 1Mii SafeFly Dot, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Keep the device dry. Avoid exposure to moisture, rain, or liquids.
  • Do not expose the device to extreme temperatures (hot or cold).
  • Clean the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Store the device in a cool, dry place when not in use.
  • Avoid dropping or subjecting the device to strong impacts.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your SafeFly Dot, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
