1. Introduction

The FL ESPORTS CMK98 is a versatile 99-key wireless mechanical keyboard designed for both Mac and Windows operating systems. It features a compact full-size layout, including a number pad, to maximize productivity. This keyboard is equipped with hot-swappable switches, vibrant RGB backlighting, and multiple connectivity options, providing a customizable and efficient typing experience for gaming, work, and study.

2. Setup

2.1 Package Contents

Before you begin, please ensure all items are present in the package:

  • CMK98 Wireless Mechanical Keyboard
  • USB-C Cable
  • 2.4GHz USB Receiver
  • Keycap Puller
  • Switch Puller
  • User Manual (this document)

2.2 Connection Modes

The CMK98 keyboard supports three connection modes: Bluetooth (BT5.0), 2.4GHz Wireless, and USB Wired. You can easily switch between these modes using the physical switch located on the side of the keyboard.

2.2.1 2.4GHz Wireless Mode

  1. Locate the 2.4GHz USB receiver.
  2. Plug the 2.4GHz USB receiver into an available USB port on your computer.
  3. Slide the connection mode switch on the keyboard to the "2.4G" position.
  4. The keyboard will automatically connect to your computer.

2.2.2 Bluetooth Mode

  1. Slide the connection mode switch on the keyboard to the "BT" position.
  2. On your computer or device, enable Bluetooth and search for new devices.
  3. Select "CMK98" from the list of available Bluetooth devices to pair.
  4. The keyboard can connect to multiple Bluetooth devices. Use FN + Q/W/E to switch between paired devices.

2.2.3 USB Wired Mode

  1. Connect one end of the provided USB-C cable to the keyboard's USB-C port.
  2. Connect the other end of the USB-C cable to an available USB port on your computer.
  3. Slide the connection mode switch on the keyboard to the "USB" position.
  4. The keyboard will be recognized as a wired device and begin charging simultaneously.

2.3 Operating System Switch

The CMK98 keyboard features a dedicated switch to toggle between Mac and Windows layouts, ensuring optimal key functionality for your specific operating system.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 RGB Backlighting

The CMK98 keyboard features 1.68 million RGB backlit keys with various lighting effects. Use the following key combinations to control the backlighting:

  • FN + \ |: Cycle through lighting effects.
  • FN + ↑ / ↓: Adjust brightness.
  • FN + ← / →: Adjust lighting speed/direction.
  • Refer to the full manual for more advanced lighting customization options via software.

3.2 Hot-Swappable Switches

The CMK98 features a hot-swappable PCB, allowing you to easily replace 3-pin or 5-pin mechanical switches without soldering. This enables customization of your typing feel and sound.

3.2.1 Replacing Switches

  1. Gently remove the keycap using the provided keycap puller.
  2. Use the switch puller to carefully grip the switch from its top and bottom clips.
  3. Pull the switch straight up to remove it from the PCB.
  4. Align the pins of the new switch with the holes on the PCB.
  5. Press the new switch firmly into place until it clicks. Ensure pins are not bent.

3.3 Macro Programming and Software Support

The CMK98 supports macro customization and key function remapping through its dedicated driver software. This allows for personalized control and enhanced productivity or gaming performance.

  • Download the official software from the FL ESPORTS website.
  • Install the software and connect your keyboard in wired mode for best results.
  • Use the software interface to record macros, assign functions to individual keys, and customize RGB lighting effects.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning

  • Disconnect the keyboard from all power sources before cleaning.
  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild cleaning solution to wipe the keycaps and casing.
  • For dust and debris between keys, use compressed air.
  • Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

4.2 Battery Care

The CMK98 keyboard is equipped with a 4000mAh rechargeable Lithium Polymer battery.

  • Charge the keyboard fully before first use.
  • To check battery level in Bluetooth mode, press FN + Backspace.
