Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your Inter-Tech SAMA XPH-1000A Power Supply. The SAMA XPH Series is designed to meet the Intel ATX 3.0 Standard, offering 1000 Watts of power with an 80 PLUS® Platinum efficiency rating, reaching up to 93.90% efficiency. It features a 12VHPWR connector for new PCIe 5.0 GPUs and supports proven GPUs with PCIe 6+2 ports. An Intelligent Fan Controller (IFC) manages the 120mm fan speed between 0 and 1600 rpm based on temperature, ensuring optimal cooling and quiet operation.

Safety Information

Please read all safety instructions carefully before installing or operating the power supply. Failure to do so may result in personal injury or damage to the product.

Setup and Installation

1. Preparation

2. Installation Steps

  1. Mounting the Power Supply:

Carefully slide the power supply into the designated PSU bay in your computer case. Ensure the fan faces the correct direction (usually downwards for bottom-mounted PSUs, or according to case design for optimal airflow).

Secure the power supply to the case using the provided mounting screws. Typically, four screws are used at the rear of the case.

  2. Connecting Cables:

Identify the necessary cables for your components:

    • 24-pin ATX Mainboard Cable: Connect to the motherboard's main power connector.
    • 4+4 pin CPU (EPS) Cable: Connect to the CPU power connector on the motherboard. Some motherboards may require two such connectors.
    • 12VHPWR Cable: For PCIe 5.0 graphics cards. Connect one end to the PSU's 12VHPWR port and the other to your graphics card.
    • 6+2 pin PCIe Cables: For older or additional graphics cards. Connect to the PSU's PCIe ports and your graphics card(s).
    • SATA Power Cables: For SATA hard drives, SSDs, and optical drives.
    • IDE/Molex Power Cables: For older peripherals or case fans.

Connect only the cables required for your system to minimize cable clutter and improve airflow.

  3. Cable Management:

Route cables neatly to ensure proper airflow within the case. Use cable ties or Velcro straps if available.

  4. Final Connection:

Once all internal components are connected, connect the AC power cord to the power supply's inlet and then to a wall outlet or surge protector.

Operating Instructions

1. Powering On

2. Intelligent Fan Controller (IFC)

The SAMA XPH-1000A features an Intelligent Fan Controller. The 120mm fan will automatically adjust its speed (0-1600 RPM) based on the internal temperature of the power supply. At low loads and temperatures, the fan may stop completely for silent operation. This is normal and indicates efficient thermal management.

3. Powering Off

Maintenance

The Inter-Tech SAMA XPH-1000A Power Supply is designed for reliable, long-term operation with minimal maintenance. However, periodic cleaning can help ensure optimal performance and longevity.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Power supply does not turn on.
  • AC power cord not connected.
  • Power switch is off.
  • Loose cable connections.
  • Faulty wall outlet.
  • Internal protection circuit activated.
  • Ensure AC power cord is securely connected to PSU and wall outlet.
  • Flip the power switch on the PSU to 'I' (On).
  • Check all modular cable connections (24-pin, CPU, PCIe).
  • Try a different wall outlet.
  • Disconnect all components, then reconnect one by one to identify faulty component. If PSU still doesn't power on, it may be faulty.
System crashes or reboots randomly.
  • Insufficient power.
  • Overheating.
  • Loose cable connections.
  • Ensure your system's power requirements do not exceed 1000W.
  • Check for proper airflow in the case and ensure PSU fan is not obstructed. Clean dust if necessary.
  • Verify all power cables are securely connected.
Fan is not spinning.
  • Intelligent Fan Controller (IFC) is active.
  • Fan malfunction.
  • This is normal at low loads/temperatures. The fan will spin up as temperature increases.
  • If the fan never spins even under load and the PSU is hot, contact support.

If the problem persists after trying these solutions, please contact Inter-Tech customer support.
