Setup
1. Installing M.2 SSDs
- Open the Enclosure: Press the open-cover buttons on both sides of the enclosure simultaneously to release and open the top covers.
- Insert SSDs: Carefully insert your M.2 NVMe SSDs (M Key or B+M Key, sizes 2230/2242/2260/2280) into the designated slots. Ensure they are seated firmly. The enclosure supports various M.2 NVMe SSD sizes.
- Apply Thermal Pad: Remove the protective film from a silicone thermal pad and place it directly on top of each inserted M.2 SSD. This enhances heat dissipation.
- Close the Enclosure: Gently close the top covers until they click securely into place.

2. Connecting to a Computer
- Connect Power: Plug the provided power adapter into the DC 5V input port on the enclosure, then connect it to a power outlet.
- Connect Data Cable: Use the USB-C to USB-A/C data cable to connect the enclosure's USB-C port to an available USB port on your computer.
Operating Modes
1. Data Transfer Mode
Once connected to your computer, the enclosure functions as an external dual SSD docking station. It supports simultaneous read and write operations for both installed SSDs.
- High-Speed Transmission: The enclosure utilizes USB 3.2 technology, offering data transfer speeds of up to 10Gbps for a single drive.
- Wide Compatibility: The device is plug-and-play compatible with Windows 7 and above, Mac OS 10.5 and above, and Linux operating systems.
- Automatic Sleep Function: To conserve power and extend SSD lifespan, the enclosure will automatically enter sleep mode after 10 minutes of inactivity. Note that the exact sleep time may vary depending on the host system.
- Built-in Cooling Fan: The integrated cooling fan and aluminum shell vents provide efficient heat dissipation. The fan activates automatically when the internal temperature reaches a certain threshold during use.

2. Offline Cloning Mode
The enclosure supports offline cloning of two M.2 SSDs without requiring a computer connection. This feature is ideal for duplicating drives or upgrading to a larger capacity SSD.

Image: The Inateck SA02005 enclosure set up for one-click offline cloning, showing a source SSD and a target SSD, with an arrow indicating the cloning direction. The power adapter is connected.
- Prepare Drives: Insert the source SSD into the 'Source' slot and the target SSD into the 'Target' slot.
- Important Note: The capacity of the target drive must be greater than or equal to the capacity of the source drive for successful cloning.
- Connect Power: Ensure the power adapter is connected to the enclosure and a power outlet. The enclosure does not need to be connected to a computer for offline cloning.
- Initiate Cloning: Press and hold the 'Clone' button for approximately 5 seconds until the LED indicator lights begin to flash, indicating the start of the cloning process.
- Monitor Progress: The LED indicators (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) will illuminate sequentially to show the cloning progress.
- Completion: Cloning is complete when the 100% LED indicator remains solid.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the enclosure. Avoid using liquid cleaners or solvents.
- Ventilation: Ensure the cooling vents are not obstructed to maintain optimal airflow and heat dissipation.
- Storage: When not in use, store the enclosure in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
Troubleshooting
- SSD Not Recognized by Computer:
- Ensure the SSDs are correctly inserted into the slots.
- Verify that the USB data cable and power adapter are securely connected.
- Try connecting the enclosure to a different USB port on your computer.
- For new SSDs, they may need to be initialized and formatted in your operating system's Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (Mac OS) before they can be used.
- Confirm the SSD is an M.2 NVMe (M Key or B+M Key) and not a SATA SSD, as SATA SSDs are not supported.
- Offline Cloning Fails or Does Not Start:
- Ensure the target SSD's capacity is greater than or equal to the source SSD's capacity.
- Verify both SSDs are properly seated in their respective 'Source' and 'Target' slots.
- Confirm the power adapter is connected and providing power.
- Press and hold the 'Clone' button for the required 5 seconds until the indicator lights flash.
- Slow Data Transfer Speeds:
- Ensure you are connecting the enclosure to a USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) compatible port on your computer. Older USB ports (e.g., USB 2.0, USB 3.0/3.1 Gen 1) will result in lower speeds.
- Check the condition of the USB data cable. Try a different high-quality USB 3.2 Gen 2 cable if available.
- Performance can also be affected by the SSD's speed and the host system's capabilities.
- Enclosure Overheating:
- Ensure the thermal pads are correctly placed on the SSDs.
- Verify that the cooling vents are not blocked.
- The built-in fan activates automatically when needed. If the fan is not audible during heavy use, contact support.
