Understanding your indoor air quality is crucial for overall health, sleep, and comfort. The View Plus helps you track pollutants and contaminants before they become a problem, offering powerful peace of mind.
Setup Guide
Setting up your Airthings View Plus is quick and easy. Follow these steps to get your device up and running:
- Download the Airthings App: Search for "Airthings" in your device's app store (available on iOS and Android) and create an account.
- Activate the Monitor: Locate the battery compartment on the back of the View Plus. Remove the plastic battery tab to activate the pre-installed 6 AA batteries.
- Place Your Device: Place your View Plus in any room where you want to monitor air quality. It's ideal for family rooms, bedrooms, or kitchens. Ensure it's placed at least 3 feet (90 cm) away from windows, doors, or heating/cooling vents to avoid skewed measurements. Do not place it in areas where humidity can exceed 85%, such as a bathroom, as this can permanently damage the radon sensor.
- Add Device to App: Open the Airthings app, select 'Add device', and follow the on-screen instructions. Your phone will find the View Plus using Bluetooth.
- Connect to Wi-Fi: The app will guide you through connecting your View Plus to your home Wi-Fi network. This enables continuous monitoring and data access from anywhere.
- Optional USB Power: For perpetual power and to activate hub functionality (allowing other Airthings Wave monitors to stay online), you can plug the device into a wall outlet using the included USB-C cable.

Operating Your Device
The Airthings View Plus provides continuous monitoring of your indoor air quality. Here's how to interpret and interact with your device:
- eInk Display: The customizable eInk screen shows up to two values you most want to see (e.g., Radon and PM2.5). It's low-energy, high-contrast, and always readable.
- Motion-Activated Status: Wave your hand in front of the device to see an instant assessment of your overall air quality (Good, Fair, or Poor) indicated by a green, yellow, or red light. It will also flash specific values that are of concern.
- Airthings App Integration: The free Airthings app is your primary interface for detailed insights. Check current air quality readings, analyze trends over time with dynamic graphs, receive timely notifications, and get tips to improve your air. You can also check local pollen forecasts.
- Sensor Calibration: PM, air pressure, temperature, and humidity measurements are available immediately. VOC and CO2 sensors will adjust to the room's environment over the first week, and radon readings require approximately 30 days for a stable long-term average.
- Hub Functionality: When plugged in via USB-C, the View Plus acts as a hub, allowing other Airthings Wave monitors in your home to stay online and accessible from anywhere.

- Cleaning: Gently wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the sensors or casing.
- Battery Replacement: The device uses 6 AA batteries, which typically last up to 2 years. Replace all batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the display or in the app.
- Firmware Updates: Keep your device's firmware updated through the Airthings app to ensure you have the latest features and performance improvements.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Airthings View Plus, try the following common troubleshooting steps:
- Connectivity Issues: If the device loses Wi-Fi connection, ensure your router is working correctly and the device is within range. Try restarting your Wi-Fi router and the View Plus.
- Inaccurate Readings: Ensure the device is placed in an optimal location, away from direct drafts, heat sources, or high humidity. Allow sufficient time for sensors (especially CO2, VOC, and Radon) to calibrate after initial setup or relocation.
- App Not Syncing: Check your phone's Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections. Ensure the Airthings app is updated to the latest version. Try closing and reopening the app.
- Device Not Responding: If the device is unresponsive, try removing and reinserting the batteries. If using USB power, unplug and replug the USB-C cable.
