Setup Instructions
1. System Voltage Compatibility
The controller automatically detects 12V, 24V, 36V, or 48V battery systems. However, the voltage of the photovoltaic (PV) panels used to charge different battery types varies:
- For 12V batteries, use approximately 18V PV panels.
- For 24V batteries, use approximately 30-37V PV panels.
- For 48V batteries, use approximately 60-72V PV panels.
2. Wiring Sequence
Critical: Connect the controller to the battery first, and then to the photovoltaic panel. When disconnecting, reverse this order (disconnect PV panel first, then battery). Failure to follow this sequence can easily cause damage to the controller.
Important Note: Ensure the battery voltage is above a minimum threshold before connecting the PV panel to prevent voltage identification errors:
- 12V battery: Voltage higher than 10V
- 24V battery: Voltage higher than 20V
- 36V battery: Voltage higher than 30V
- 48V battery: Voltage higher than 40V

3. Clock Setting
After the battery is connected, press the MENU button to enter the clock setting interface. Use the Up/Down arrow buttons to adjust the time, then short press the RESET button to save the settings.
4. Charging Voltage Setting
After connecting the battery and setting the clock, long press the MENU button for 3-5 seconds. The screen will display 'L**V' (floating charge voltage). Use the Up/Down arrow buttons to adjust this value. Short press MENU again to display 'H**V' (boost charging voltage), which can also be adjusted using the Up/Down arrow buttons. Short press MENU one more time to save and exit.
Charging Protection Description:
- For 12V batteries: Boost charging voltage is higher than 14.8V, then converts to a floating charging voltage of 13.8V.
- For 24V batteries: Boost charging voltage is higher than 29.6V, then converts to a floating charging voltage of 27.6V.
- For 36V batteries: Boost charging voltage is higher than 44.4V, then converts to a floating charging voltage of 41.4V.
- For 48V batteries: Boost charging voltage is higher than 59.2V, then converts to a floating charging voltage of 55.2V.
Operating Instructions
LCD Display
The controller features a multi-function LCD with a backlight display and clock. The LCD is designed to dynamically display the operational data and working status of the equipment. This includes real-time information on battery voltage, solar panel input, load status, and charging parameters.
Load Control
Use the ON/OFF button to manually control the connected DC load. Refer to the LCD display for the current load status.
Maintenance
To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your solar charge controller, regular maintenance is recommended:
- Inspect Connections: Periodically check all wiring connections (solar panel, battery, load) for tightness and signs of corrosion. Loose or corroded connections can lead to power loss or system malfunction.
- Cleanliness: Keep the controller clean and free from dust, dirt, and moisture. Use a dry, soft cloth for cleaning. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
- Ventilation: Ensure proper ventilation around the unit. Do not block the ventilation openings, as this can lead to overheating.
- Environmental Conditions: Operate the controller within its specified environmental conditions (temperature, humidity) to prevent damage.
Troubleshooting
The Bolisila MPPT Solar Charge Controller is equipped with multiple protection features to prevent damage and ensure safe operation. If the controller is not functioning as expected, consider the following:
Common Issues and Solutions:
- No Display/Power: Check battery connections and ensure the battery voltage is above the minimum threshold for controller activation.
- No Charging: Verify solar panel connections and ensure adequate sunlight. Check for any shading on the solar panels. Confirm PV panel voltage is appropriate for the battery system.
- Load Not Working: Check load connections. Ensure the load is not exceeding the controller's rated current. Verify the load control setting on the LCD.
- Error Codes: Refer to the LCD display for any specific error codes or indicators. Consult the manufacturer's support for detailed explanations of error codes if not provided in this manual.
Protection Features:
The controller includes built-in protection against:
- Overcharge
- Over-discharge
- Overload
- Short circuit
- Reverse polarity
- Overheating
- Battery undervoltage
If any of these protections are triggered, the controller may temporarily cease operation or display a warning. Address the underlying issue before resuming normal operation.
