Setup & Installation
Follow these steps carefully for a successful installation. It is recommended to disconnect the car battery before starting any electrical work.
Step 1: Remove Center Console Trim
- Using plastic trim removal tools, carefully pry open the trim around the gear shifter. There are clips holding it in place.
- Disconnect the cigarette lighter and any heated seat connectors if present.
- Shift the gear into a lower position (e.g., 1st gear) to allow more space for removal.
- Remove the cubby hole cover below the radio. This usually involves unscrewing two hidden screws inside the cubby.
Step 2: Remove Side Trim Pieces
- Carefully pry off the silver trim pieces on both sides of the radio unit using plastic trim tools. These are held by clips. Exercise caution as older plastics can be brittle.
- Once removed, these pieces will reveal two screws on each side of the radio unit.
Step 3: Remove Original Radio Unit
- Unscrew the exposed screws holding the radio unit in place.
- Gently pull the entire radio unit forward. Disconnect all cables from the back of the unit, including hazard button, airbag light, climate control, and radio connectors.
Step 4: Remove Upper Display Unit
- Unscrew the bolts holding the upper display unit (clock display).
- Carefully remove the display unit and disconnect its cable.
- Remove the small screen from its existing housing by removing screws and clips. This screen will be placed into the new housing provided with the Podofo unit.
Step 5: Wiring the New Head Unit
The Podofo unit comes with a comprehensive wiring harness. Follow these connections:
- Relocate Small Screen Cable: The cable for the small upper display screen needs to be extended. Use the provided extension wire to connect the original small screen cable to the new housing for the small screen.
- Connect Main Power Harness: Plug the main power harness from the Podofo unit into the car's original wiring harness. Ensure all connections are secure and click into place.
- Connect AUX Cables: If you experience no sound, connect the red and white RCA jacks labeled 'AUX L IN' and 'AUX R IN' from the Podofo unit's RCA bag to the corresponding front speaker outputs (FR Speaker and FL Speaker).
- Steering Wheel Control (SWC): For steering wheel controls, locate the 'KEY' wire (brown) from the Podofo harness. Connect it to the car's SWC wire. If your car has a navigation system, ensure you connect to the correct SWC wire and not the navigation control wire.
- FM Antenna: Plug in the FM antenna if you wish to use the unit's FM radio. Alternatively, you can continue to use the OEM radio for FM.
- USB Ports: Route the USB extension cables to a convenient location, such as the glove box, for easy access.
Step 6: Backup Camera Wiring
Connect the AHD backup camera as follows:
- Red Cable 1 & 3: Connect to the positive (+) of the car's reverse light power supply.
- Black Cable 2: Connect to the negative (-) of the car's reverse light power supply.
- Black Cable 4: Connect to the reverse trigger wire on the power harness.

Troubleshooting
No Sound from Car Radio
If your car radio has no sound after installation, it is likely due to incorrect AUX cable connection. Follow these steps:
- Scenario 1 (Original AUX in armrest box): If your original car has an AUX port in the armrest box, connect the provided AUX cable (red and white RCA) to it. The audio should then work normally.
- Scenario 2 (Built-in AUX port): If the port in Scenario 1 is not compatible or your car has a built-in AUX port (e.g., in the center armrest), use the provided AUX cable to connect to that port for sound transmission.
Image: Diagram illustrating two scenarios for connecting the AUX cable to resolve a 'no sound' issue. It shows connecting to an armrest AUX port or a built-in AUX port.
Steering Wheel Controls Not Working
Ensure the 'KEY' wire (brown) from the Podofo harness is correctly connected to your vehicle's steering wheel control wire. Some Honda Accord models may have different wiring for navigation-equipped vehicles; ensure you connect to the correct SWC wire.
Maintenance
- Screen Cleaning: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean the touch screen. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the display.
- Software Updates: Periodically check for software updates from the manufacturer to ensure optimal performance and access to new features.
- General Care: Avoid exposing the unit to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight for prolonged periods. Ensure all connections remain secure.
