Safety Information
Always follow basic safety precautions when using an electrical appliance to reduce the risk of burns, fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
- Do not leave the machine unattended when plugged in.
- Unplug from the outlet before cleaning, removing covers, or when not in use.
- Use this appliance only for its intended use as described in this manual.
- Never operate this appliance if it has a damaged cord or plug, if it is not working properly, or if it has been dropped or damaged.
- Keep fingers away from all moving parts. Special care is required around the sewing machine needle.
- Always use the proper needle plate. The wrong plate can cause the needle to break.
- Do not pull or push fabric while stitching. This may deflect the needle causing it to break.
- Turn the sewing machine off when making any adjustments in the needle area, such as threading the needle, changing the needle, threading the bobbin, or changing the presser foot.

Operating Instructions
1. Stitch Selection
Your SINGER M1150 offers 16 built-in stitches and 45 stitch applications. To select a stitch, simply turn the stitch selector dial located on the front of the machine. The machine features preset stitch length and width, eliminating guesswork and ensuring consistent results.

2. 4-Step Buttonhole
Create perfect buttonholes with the integrated 4-step buttonhole feature. Follow the markings on the stitch selector dial and the buttonhole foot to complete each step accurately, resulting in professional-looking buttonholes.
3. Free Arm Sewing
To sew tubular items like cuffs, sleeves, or pant hems, remove the accessory storage compartment to reveal the free arm. This allows fabric to be easily maneuvered around the narrow arm for circular stitching.
4. Reverse Sewing
To secure stitches at the beginning and end of a seam, press and hold the reverse sewing lever. The machine will sew in reverse as long as the lever is held down, preventing unraveling and adding durability to your seams.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your sewing machine.
- Cleaning: Regularly clean lint and dust from the bobbin area and feed dogs using the provided brush. Unplug the machine before cleaning.
- Needle Replacement: Replace the needle frequently, especially after every 8-10 hours of sewing or if it becomes bent, dull, or burred. Use only SINGER brand needles for best results.
- Lubrication: Your SINGER M1150 is designed to be maintenance-free in terms of lubrication. Do not oil the machine.
Troubleshooting
Here are some common issues and their solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Needle breaking | Incorrect needle size for fabric, bent needle, pulling fabric while sewing, incorrect needle insertion. | Use correct needle, replace bent needle, guide fabric gently, re-insert needle correctly. |
| Skipped stitches | Incorrect needle, needle inserted incorrectly, machine not threaded properly. | Change needle, re-insert needle, re-thread machine completely. |
| Thread breaking | Improper threading, incorrect tension, poor quality thread, burr on needle or machine parts. | Re-thread machine, adjust tension, use good quality thread, check for burrs. |
| Fabric not feeding | Feed dogs lowered, lint in feed dogs. | Raise feed dogs, clean feed dog area. |
